So I found this old 2D illustration of a brown dwarf that I made a couple years ago, back when I was experimenting with making digitally-painted art with my graphics tablet. Out of all the projects that I have attempted however, this is the only one that I actually had the motivation to finish.

(Artist of the star textures here) I remember back in 2021 when I started work on what was originally an file replacement addon that revamped the default star textures in Celestia at the time. It got to a point however where I decided to pitch to the devs that they could use my new star- (1/4)

Realistic limb darkening is the next improvement to be added. Previously, limb darkening was done by drawing a sprite in front of the star which created a central glow effect, that worked but was far from being visually accurate. #space #computergraphics #rendering #OpenGL #opensource #simulator

I actually made the suggestion for the edit with how the unlit side of the rings are rendered. Before if the planet's phase angle were at 150°-180°, then they'd just look solid black like the main disk of the planet. Of course this isn't how the rings would actually look like, hence my request.

The rings appear pitch black when viewed from phase angle 150°-180°, and were only visible as a dark silhouette against the glow of the host star.

So this is a revised version of a video that I posted last month, because a paper just came out earlier today saying that Rho CrB d was actually just a false positive, so I had to re-render the system just to remove that one planet. Music by the USAF Heritage of America Band © 2025 Planetkid32

The Artemis II crew are well equipped for photography and are paying attention to the opportunities. On the outbound leg of their journey to the Moon this photo showing global scale dim light phenomena was obtained. I have removed the interior cabin lights reflections and adjusted the brightness.

This photograph of the night side of Earth was obtained yesterday after the completion of the trans Lunar engine burn. The original image has been rotated to have North near the top, and the overall tonal values have been adjusted to in my judgement better represent the brightness range between the Moonlit Earth and the bright limb. I have manually removed a couple interior lights reflections from the image. Venus is at the upper left, and the dim fuzzy conical Zodiacal Light looms from behind Earth. The hidden Sun is behind the upper left portion of Earth. Stars are recorded, a rarity in such photography.  Aurorae are visible as light green outlines  standing apart from the polar regions. Across the entire night side a detached dim olive green 'Airglow' layer outlines the edge, or 'limb' of Earth. City lights are clustered near the coastal regions of the land masses.

This is Janet, a new character who'll be introduced in #STMY. She's based at Barrow along with Neville and Caden, and is the NWR's current no. 11. I'm using Bandicam to record my modelling of her, and will be doing a multi-part video series showing my techniques for modelmaking. #TTTE

So after neglecting this for a month after initially starting it, I've decided to resume work on my Pluto Kuiper Express model, and I must admit that it's coming along very nicely. It's still got a few things that I need to figure out, but overall I'm pleased with how this model looks now.

So here's something new for me. Yesterday I thought it'd be a fun idea to try and make a 3D model of a proposed mission that ultimately never was. Now I don't have any experience with modelling spacecraft in 3D, so I don't expect myself to be able to finish this, but at least I'm making an attempt.
