I was going to watch this last night, but the programme summary was so spectacularly clueless I just couldn't face it.

May I refer you to Arkell v. Pressdram? Private Eye is 65. To celebrate, we’re taking a peek behind the curtain to explain where some of the Eye’s lore, columns, and in-jokes originate from.

Just back from a week travelling round the UK to see as many James McMurtry gigs as I could - the latest of what I call my stalker tours. He was working with Betty Soo, who did her own solo set then added second guitar, accordion & backing vocals to most of McMurtry's numbers. Here's a few pics.
The more I see of Stephen Miller, the more I find myself thinking of Darkseid's toady, sadistic torturer Desaad. They even look alike!
"A Black man walking to a pharmacy was left injured & bleeding by the side of a road after ICE officers, mistaking him for an immigrant “fugitive,” threw him to the ground & tried to handcuff him. Once the agents realized he was a US citizen, they [...] drove off." www.newyorker.com/magazine/202...
ICE Is Everywhere and Acting with Impunity
ICE arrests have reached a record high—nearly fifty-one thousand in August alone—with agents conducting operations nationwide at hospitals, at airports, and outside schools.

This guy's new to me but his album's a real little gem. You can see why Dylan's had him him guesting with his stage band lately. www.youtube.com/watch?v=7V-d...

Taken from a 1999 Stones gig at the (for them) small venue of Shepherds Bush Empire. Movie of the full gig popped up on Sky Arts a few days ago, & turns out to be really rather good. From this song onwards (#10 of 19) the band's on great form & having fun. Don't miss www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pYt...

Went to see Dowland Foundry's evening of music by the Elizabethan composer John Dowland last night at St James's church in Islington. The sound of Sami Brown's lute was particularly lovely in that setting.
Had an interesting morning today at Union Chapel in Islington's open day. The building's rose window shows angels playing every instrument mentioned in the Bible.
