Materials for future fusion power plants are being tested at TUM's FRM II research reactor.

Together, IPP, FRM II and Technische Universität München are investigating material damage at the atomic level to support the development of future fusion power plants. This new project FUMA is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) with 4.8 million euros.
During two training sessions at the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics in Garching, over 100 physics teachers recently gained an insight into fusion research and found new inspiration for their lessons.

Our Cryo Group has started to cool down the Wendelstein 7-X cryostat in preparation for the next operation phase (OP2.4) which is due to begin in September.
