Plasmonica (https://www.plasmonica.it/) is an Italy-based community of young researchers in #plasmonics and #nano-optics constituted as a Working Group of the Italian Society of Optics and Photonics (SIOF).
Next year our annual workshop will move back south with an organizing team from #UniCal università della Calabria and #CNR-NANOTEC spearheaded by Antonio Ferraro. 🚩Rende (CS), Calabria 🗓️ 8 - 10 september, 2027 This time we announced early, so no excuses 😉 we wait for you at #PLASMONICA2027!
At #PLASMONICA2026 early-career researchers were awarded prizes in memory of our much-missed co-founder Prof. Alessandro Belardini in presence of his family. 👏👏 Sveva Sodomaco @sns.it for the best talk and Marzia Ferrera #EPFL #IIT Genova for the best poster - 3rd and 2nd from the right respectively
The last lively poster session of the #PLASMONICA2026 workshop is under way! Most communities feel like posters are reserved to those results too preliminary or otherwise undeserving of an oral presentation slot; conversely... 🧵/1
The last day of the #PLASMONICA2026 conference with an invited talk by Lorenzo Tesi from @unistuttgart.bsky.social. He just pushed the frequency range of our conference down to the THz showing us his plasmonic metasurface 🎀 resonators for for magnetic resonance 🧲 spectroscopy.
If you are attending the #PLASMONICA2026 workshop, do not forget to pay a a visit to the sponsor's exhibition 🎪 with stalls from OPTOPRIM Italia, Crisel Instruments, attocube systems, dB ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENTS SRL, and @thorlabs.bsky.social .
The group picture of the #PLASMONICA2026 workshop is finally out! We look like an awesome community 😍
The Job Ads Board at the #PLASMONICA2026 Workshop has started to populate! Eight years ago I found a new position #PoliMi at a PLASMONICA event, and have been there since. May it work for you as well?!
The second day of #PLASMONICA2026 is opened by the invited speaker Jacinto Sà from Uppsala University @uu.se providing precious insight into his research at the forefront of plasmon-based nanocatalysis ⚗️.
#PLASMONICA2026 was kickstarted by the first invited speaker, Paola Borri from Cardiff University School of Biosciences. She explained how single gold nanoparticles can be tracked by coherent nonlinear optical techniques, and thus serve as microscopy tags for imaging complex biological systems 🦠.
The #PLASMONICA2026 workshop is currently underway in the beautiful town of Pisa! a fantastic opportunity for the Italian community of nano-optics to gather and get up to date with the latest work of colleagues in Italy and beyond!
Procrastinators,🕚 rejoice! The call for abstract📝 by #PLASMONICA2026 has been extended until April 26th. All info on the workshop in the 🧵 below. Last few days to collect that last stubborn data point 📊 that you wanted to include in your abstract...
What a day today 😅: we are also announcing the call for abstracts 📥 for our yearly workshop of #Plasmonics and #Nano-Optics💡 #PLASMONICA2026 is open! 📅 8-10 July, 2026 in Pisa #UniPi #CNR-NANO @sns.it + free entry for junior researchers. All details at 🌐https://www.plasmonica.it/2026/. 🧵/1
At the closing ceremony of #PlasmonicaSchool2026, best poster prizes 🥇 have been awarded to (from left) Fabrizio Conti (#PoliMi 🇮🇹), Marion Lavignac (Institut des Nanotechnologies de Lyon 🇫🇷), Ann Céline Zimmermann (Umeå Univ. 🇸🇪): all of them lucky winner of the traditional Italian #plasmon biscuits!
What an awesome group of students! It was our pleasure to welcome you #PlasmonicaSchool2026. Safe trip back to those of you leaving soon and those staying longer: enjoy Florence and Italy!
Fond memories of the social dinner 🍝🍷 at #Plasmonica2026! Restaurant Omero, just in front of the last residence of Galileo. Our Steering Committee almost in full with the School speakers (from left) Monika Fleischer, @jacopobertolotti.com , Francesco Monticone.
More insightful 💡 lectures today at #PlasmonicaSchool2026 from Monika Fleischer (University of Tübingen) and Marian Florescu (University of Southampton) teaching us about (nano)plasmonic sensing 🟡🦠 and why disordered is very different from random!🟩🟩🟧🟩
Tough questions being asked and sad truths being revealed by @jacopobertolotti.com at #PlasmonicaSchool2026 👹
Fabrizio Conti (front) and Zhifan Dai (back) valently representing our sNOm group @vynisle.bsky.social #PoliMi at the #Poster session #PlasmonicaSchool2026.
Time for the attendees to showcase their research and interact with their peers at the first poster session of #PlasmonicaSchool2026.
Fresh start of a third day of lectures and seminars at #PlasmonicaSchool2026 with clear skies and an attentive audience.
Today #PlasmonicaSchool2023 took some time off from classes to enjoy #Florence and some art at the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo.
@jacopobertolotti.com decided it is time to justify our presence at the Galileo Galilei Institute for Theoretical Physics! Flexing classical field theory with Feynman diagrams 😵💫 at #PlasmonicaSchool2026!
@jacopobertolotti.com looks like something we might try hands-on here at #PlasmonicaSchool2026 😉
What is this? This is a Mie scattering problem implemented on an open source FEM software, with a conformal swept PML mesh... And by the test I am running, it looks like it's working...
Glad to have brought you back @jacopobertolotti.com and to have you here as a teacher of our #PlasmonicaSchool2026! (not sure about the "summer" part of the school though 🥶)
I haven't been here in 20 years. When I was a student, Physics at the University of Florence was in this old, beautiful villa on the hill of Arcetri (not far away from Galileo's villa). 1/2 #UniversityOfFlorence #PlasmonicaSchool
#PLASMONICAschool2026 has started today in Arcetri! This morning we had 👨🏫 Francesco Monticone (@cornelluniversity.bsky.social) delving deep into the subtleties of light-matter interaction fundamentals and @jacopobertolotti.com (@exeter.ac.uk) guiding us through the intricacies of optical scattering.
All I want for Xmas is... 🎁 a Workshop of #Plasmonics and #Nano-Optics💡! For its 12th edition, #PLASMONICA2026 will finally reach #Pisa. It will be hosted by the Univ. of Pisa #UniPi and supported by #CNR-NANO, @sns.it, SIOF, and EOS @europeanoptics.bsky.social. #SaveTheDate 📅 8-10 July, 2026. 🧵/1
