My former employer has found a clever way to save on the travel discount benefit they gave to their retirees. Take away the web portal, and make it all have to be booked through a single lady at the head office who never picks up or returns calls. Brilliant.

This bistro is closing today. I ordered my usual spicy chicken sandwich. When he brought it out, he explained that he'd added butter chicken sauce as well because he wanted to give me something special for my last visit. I wish this had been on the regular menu. I told him as much. Yum.

Today's random pictures are a doll in the window, and a little inuksuk standing in defiance of the rough lake waters.

This vendor was all like, "What if a customer can't decide between our mini doughnuts or a sundae?" And then this happened. This was as decadent and delicious as one might suspect.

The lighting was not kind to this picture, but sometimes the tastiest food is the least photogenic. I went all fancy for lunch today. This is Persian chicken with a drizzle of pomegranate molasses over white rice. The accompaniment is roasted eggplant with date molasses, topped with tahini.
