This is actually one thing that I did shell the heck out for in my house. We actually spend a TON of time at the dinner table, and I'm going to keep it for the rest of my life. It's the only piece of furniture that I actually care about in my house!
you are not buying a $4,000 dining table made of walnut from these guys, and they are on the cheaper end because they have a real-ass production facility (you also probably shouldn't, unless it is specifically because it sparks joy for you! your kids very well may not want it!)
The wretched sushi place near me has closed and has been replaced with a pho joint. The invisible hand of the market wins again
apropos of some stuff surrounding Catcher in the Rye, I am taking this opportunity to read a book that I utterly despised in high school and to see if reading it in my mid-30s is different from reading it at age 17 Mrs. Courchesne, I am giving Mrs. Dalloway another try
unfortunately all of the people who can do this compellingly are explaining arbitrary code execution techniques for N64 games
I often find myself thinking, "I want something - anything, really, I don't have something specific in mind - complex and interesting explained to me by someone who understands it (because I don't)" and it is often hard, in those moments, to get the algorithm to give me that.
Well, that's a first. I exhausted a free Claude session. (Generating GNOME screencast bindings in OCaml so that I can process game screenshots. Extremely silly!)
Drove through Aberdeen on our way to Olympic National Park and dawwwgggggg what on earth is going on there
I forgot that I got a picture of my friend's other livestock dog. This is Ollie, a 150-pound creature who is a mutt of various stegosaurus-shaped breeds but is primarily Akbash. His favorite things are sleeping, tummy rubs, and barking at the cows in the next field over
My new debit card doesn't have embossed numbers on it. It's the end of an era!
with the GLP-1 discourse going on I'd like to say that I've been working very hard. In the last year, I have been climbing 6+ days a week and have gotten a couple of (soft) V5 climbs. I've gotten my 5k time down from "cannot run a 5k" to 26:45. My resting HR is now 51. I have lost exactly 0 pounds
It is very funny that he's been trying very hard to clean up his image and throws it all away on pathetic displays like this. He just can't help himself
Papa! Papa! The refs are being mean to me!
the fact that I have to keep reposting this is really unpleasant
HAHAHAHAHAAHA I DIDN'T GET LAID OFF
It's layoff season again! Round #7 in 6 years. I am so sick of this
I would like to know how people make seasonally-appropriate food on a budget when there is BOGO beef chuck and 10-pound bags of potatoes for $0.99. We're having pot roast in July, folks
I finally fixed the strike plate on the bathroom door that was keeping it from latching and allowing the late Dudley to go in there and eat the toilet paper I probably should have done this a long time ago, but it wasn't an issue until he was going in there EVERY NIGHT at the end of his life
There is an incredibly powerful smell of Cope Wintergreen in my house. Either something else is making that smell, my wife / child have started dipping, or I'm having a stroke
My wife has informed me that I am allowed to come up with a nickname for my homemade gluten-free General Tso's chicken, but that nickname cannot be "chickety-china the chinese chicken"
I just had a very long involved dream where Pedro Martinez got hired as my group's new project manager and spent most of his first day criticizing every design decision I've made for the last year and a half. I thought some of his criticisms were reasonable but he was a dick about it
Richard is yet again wishing everybody a "stop setting off fireworks you assholes" this Independence Day
Spending today biking around town with my daughter. Very interesting that a lot of roads that I consider to be The Worst for biking (no bike lane, no shoulder) are accessible when you're following a kid on the sidewalk at 6 miles per hour
I had a coworker in the microscopy lab who spent all of his shifts on InfoWars and even had an "NFOWARS" vanity plate on his car. I wonder what he's doing now.
It is the dawn of a new era. Hear our battle anthem. Welcome to the new InfoWars.
Making glutenous pancakes for wife and kiddo and thinking of Deut. 25:4 "Do not muzzle the ox while it is treading out the grain"
Score another one for Claude. I have a set of custom Linux packaging scripts that I (poorly) wrote back in the 5.15 days. After a server upgrade, RPM has changed so dramatically that the scripts don't work, and I finally had to figure out how Linux 7.2 is doing things. It's very, very different
DUDLEY REMINISCING THREAD You should probably mute this thread, I'm mostly shrieking into the void
Dudley has liver cancer and only has a couple weeks left. I knew that he was declining fast and that this was probably going to be his last year, but it still very much sucks to hit the end of the road. He's getting the good stuff and gets to snooze on the guest bed if he wants
