A UK-based tabletop gaming podcast, featuring reviews, chat and ramshackle nonsense

In Episode 190 of the Polyhedron Collider Cast, we're celebrating the enduring appeal of classic board game design alongside some hot new games that kind of feel like games we've played before. From ruthless economic simulations and strategic resource extraction to elegant area control,

Prague Unseen from Albi at UK Games Expo So, there isn't a lot of information about this game, but phrases like: "mythical Prague back in the 19th century" "euro-style worker placement" "four distinct “mini-games” "gain unique abilities." Yeah, well, that will do it.

Wine & Cheese from @pegasusspiele at th e@ukgamesexpo Scott Almes is a really inventive and creative designer; each of his games that I have played I found to be different, and fun, and interesting, and so I don't expect this game to break that rather great mould.

World Order from @hegemonic_project_games Hegemony is a seminal game. There is nothing else quite like it, well, that was until World Order. We played the demo back in '23 and bloody loved it. This is a step back from the government-level game of Hegemony & sets the game on a grander scale

Altay: Seafarers Expansion from @ares.games at @ukgamesexpo We quite liked Altay when we reviewed it back in Episode 172, but one of the key things we felt was missing was the ability to cross the bodies of water and engage in battle diagonally across the map.

Pivot from @teomachgames at @ukgamesexpo This sounds like a fascinating game, and one I'm keen to try in person. As a player, you own shares in the various companies, and through these companies you'll construct buildings, expand the network, sell goods, etc., but

Bunny Kingdom Town from iello games Bunny Kingdom is an utterly brutal war game dressed up as a kids' cartoon. It's brilliant, mean, and brilliant. Now, we have a reimplementation of Bunny Kingdom Town, strictly for two players, and at least one member of the podcast is buying this game immediately!

Forestry from @pinktroubadour at @ukgamesexpo This game came out towards the end of last year, but this is its debut convention, so it will allow us to demo it before possibly picking it up. It's also one of the heaviest games on show at the expo this year, with a BGG weight of 3.27

Almighty from @keenbeanstudio I honestly love the sound of this game. Thematically, this is a tongue-in-cheek view of Gods at war for belief from us mere mortals. So of course, right off the bat, we can expect not only asymmetric god powers, but fun, satirical art and flavour in every component.

✈️Gruntz from @allplayhq.bsky.social Even if this game didn't have components that can be upgraded with tiny little magnets - I'd still be all over this. A straight up 2-palyer war game where you'll have command over three types of troops: infantry, tanks, and planes.

🌎Earth: Animal Kingdoms from InsideUp games I'm a big fan of Earth; it plays directly into the type of game I simply love, and this expansion sounds bloody marvellous, adding a variety of animals into the game that trigger whenever you use a leaf.

⚔️Intelliwar: Accession To The Throne from Remarkable Games This is a highly variable and deeply tactical 2-player game that looks to be hitting similar notes to games like Neuroshima Hex and Monolith Arena, except you'll be drafting your small team each game,
