Possible Cabbage 🟢

A cabbage, or Something. I should have learned kung fu, instead of ethics. Bees are good, bees are good, I believe that bees are good.. 2+2=-3 in Z/7Z. e/em

When you see "soy free" on egg packaging, is that useful allergy information or vice signaling to morons? I presume there's nothing in the egg that the chicken doesn't put in there (except salmonella) so any link b/w "egg quality" and "diet" is probably just a "diet quality/healthy chicken thing.

This is kind of like living in Minnesota, which is reliably blue, so outsiders assume that like "antifa hunts cops for fun, pork is illegal, etc." But it's mostly just decent, normal people trying to do their best.

Bluesky's new CEO Toni Schneider on the platform's reputation for being a liberal bubble: "Yes, we definitely want that to change. It is already changing. It certainly wasn’t designed to attract one specific group of people."

I have come to realize that I, myself, am a plot guesser as a means to deal with whatever anxiety "what's going to happen" creates, I will try to figure out "given pagecount/runtime, dramatic structure, and themes what's likely to happen" but this is about as relevant to others as "I can cook beans"

if I ever taught film criticism lesson one would be “you being smarter than the movie is not interesting to anyone”

TikTok has incredible moderation team. Our InfoWars video about Multiple Horse Theory — the idea that there are many horses in the world and not just one — has been fully deemed misinformation and lost the formal appeals process. Confirmed by Larry Ellison: There is only one horse on Earth.

I think the thing about Nolan dropping the "No Man/Οὔτις" thing is that in the poem Odysseus is a stinker who tries to get an edge on everybody he meets by lying to them until he gets the right lie out. Nolan simply isn't interested in Odysseus- trickster figure so it's an easy cut.

I overheard two people in the bathroom at my local AMC theater chatting "I never thought I would see a big screen adaptation of The Odyssey" and it took all my willpower not to respond with "C'mon, Wishbone did a version of the Odyssey, Arthur did a version of the Odyssey, etc."

She's being pedantic in a way that signals "I don't understand what I'm talking about" since in some contexts "trans" is a Latin prefix meaning "across" not an adjective (c.f. "transalpine"), but in context it's obviously just the short form of "transgender" in the same way we shorten other words.

I'm not saying she's necessarily the stupidest person of all time, but she's definitely the person with the biggest ever gap between how clever they think they are, and how stupid they actually are.

JKR: Trouble is, 'trans' isn't an adjective. 'Trans woman' is a compound noun meaning 'man who wants to be considered a woman.' If the individual being described isn't trans, he's simply a man, whereas a bespectacled woman remains a woman even if she's not wearing glasses.

The saddest thing about the right wing outrage about THE ODYSSEY is that what really should happen is that there should be *many* adaptations of the Odyssey out there, since it's hard to get more public domain than "predates Priscan Latin." Do a funny one, sure- there's no one true vision of this.

It is kind of funny while in our modern era we complain about casting for entirely fictional people not looking right for whatever reason, but that the 1986 hit film HIGHLANDER features Sean Connery pretending to be Egyptian and Christopher Lambert pretending to be Scottish.

The right wing game of Telephone on the Olive Garden pasta pass is bizarre. Since "the pasta pass" is available in very limited numbers (like 10,000 every 4 years) they used to issue a physical card like a rewards card at a grocery store that you could swipe for "I have the pasta pass."

Scalise: "For God's sake -- you can't get pasta at Olive Garden without a picture ID! Why not be able to show a picture ID to vote?"
