While en route to a seminar where he was scheduled to speak, Min Zin, a US Citizen who leads a Myanmar-focused think tank, was detained by the Chinese government seemingly for being vocally critical of China and its relation to the Myanmar Junta. The State Department must demand his release.

Note that during Otakon weekend, several Red Line stations on the west end are closed for construction. There are shuttle buses, but those can take a while, so plan ahead, make use of different stations to park at, and use the other end of the Red Line, or other lines in general!

During Otakon weekend, the Red Line, between North Bethesda and Friendship Height stations will be closed for construction. Shuttle buses will be provided, both local, stopping at each stop, and express, going straight between North Bethesda and Friendship Heights. The shuttle takes on average 30-40 minutes.
Parking will be free at the lots at North Bethesda and Grosvenor-Strathmore stations during the construction.
During the construction period, temporary free parking will be available near Friendship Heights station at the former Lord & Taylor parking lot, located at 5255 Western Avenue NW. Drivers should enter the lot via the Jenifer Street NW entrance.
Parking at a daily flat rate is available at most stations with a "P" labeled next to it on the map.
The rate is generally around $4.95-5.20, provided you use a SmarTrip card to ride the train and tap the gate on the way out.
The parking fee is in addition to the train fare. Parking at all stations is free on weekends.

Yuri No. 5689 about teenage schoolgirls with the same "will they won't they" premise and bland art get to be dragged out to 5+ volumes straight, but Yuri with actual unique and interesting premises get canned prematurely. Fuck the old suits at manga editorial departments.

According to the blog, the Japanese tourist found this back in 2006 at several stalls in Bogyoke Market in Yangon, printed cheaply on A4 paper, and sold for 650 kyat (~65 yen at the time). It's marked as Volume 1 but more images of this translation remain to be seen.

Bowser's parting shot as she leaves the mayoral office is to let the DDOT gut the DC Streetcar like a fish while throwing unlimited amounts of money at the new Commanders Stadium, somehow lacking the foresight that the Streetcar could be revitalized as a connection to the new stadium.

DC "failed to build the streetcar correctly, and rather than fix it, gave it up at the first opportunity." @beyonddc.bsky.social on the disappointment of the DC Streetcar that closes today.

I only just realized that today the Railgun manga finally concluded, and the arc it finished with...is *snicker* a flashback that took two years in real time. Meaning we basically haven't seen Saten, Uiharu, or Kongo in like a long while. I enjoyed the series at times but it definitely made choices.
