Late for #fossilfriday: Heracles battles a unique monster (in an image I made to show students):

an image from an ancient Greek jug shows Heracles shooting arrows and a prince throwing rocks at a skull peering from a cave. Included is an image of the fossil skull of a Miocene giraffe found in Greece. The giraffe skull matches the skull of the monster peering from the cave; the monster was apparently the remains of a fossil from at least 5 million years ago.
