Great that at least #WuChiwai can reunite w/ his family now. Still, only six months? He has endured so much because of the draconian so-called National Security Law in #HongKong. As a BNO passport holder and someone who previously applied for 2.5 years of BNO visa (it was allowed at the beginning and it was later changed to 5 years as requirement), I feel so unsafe. So, the UK’s “promise” is just an “empty promise”? We, Hong Kongers, are not begging. OK?

Shaoping Wu is a resident of Lancaster, PA. In 2020, he fled to the U.S. from China and applied for asylum due to persecution from his work as a human rights lawyer. On Wednesday, he was detained by ICE in Mount Holly Springs, despite his active asylum claim. He was turned in by local police.

我以前在獨立中文筆會擔任理事期間，當時剛在香港中文大學法律學院讀博士，曾在尖沙咀的1908書社租用一個小空間，經常中大校舍和尖沙咀兩邊走，當時書社經常舉辦文化交流活動，好不熱鬧。香港現在一慘都變了，書店店員都會被捕，真的是荒天下之大謬。過往的一切已不復再。在海外也只能做一點點。

被邀請寫一篇關於黃之峰的文章，我不能說認識他，他那麼有名，當然在很多場合有見過他，唯一一次和他同台演講應該是2013年還是2014年左右，在「公民廣場」（香港政府和立法會大樓外的廣場），我當時專注做中國人權問題，我談的是中國人權，並呼籲像那樣的香港年輕領袖，多了解和關注中國人權，但當時對中國大陸各種抗拒，我們這些人說甚麼，大家在香港都不會聽得進去，我當然明白，當時有不少港獨派和傾向港獨的會罵或取笑我們這些關注中國人權維權人士的人為「左膠」，但我從來不認，充其量認了「國際膠」，我在國際人權機構工作，國際就國際，是不是「膠」，沒所謂。
