Speculative fiction author (mostly science fiction and fantasy). Some of my favorite writers over the years have been Robert E. Howard, Philip K. Dick, Roger Zelazny, Stephen King, Elmore Leonard, Lawrence Block, and Michael Crichton.

And to follow up on that, I finished the twenty-third Charlie Parker book, A River Red With Blood. What a great series and a great writer. John Connolly keeps developing his story, his world, and especially his characters. Highly recommended.

“The Keeper,” Tana French’s latest book and the third in the Cal Hooper series, came out yesterday, the same day I finished Richard K. Morgan’s “No Man’s Land.” What a great time for book reading! I’m so happy we still have authentic, human voices out there.

Joe Hill has presented something original and dark with KING SORROW, and as he often does, there’s a definite kick in the feels that is likely to take away your breath, even if you see it coming. That’s sort of his signature. Grab a copy and judge for yourself!

I put KING SORROW somewhere between NOS4A2 and HEART-SHAPED BOX, the latter of which might still be my favorite from the author. If you like creative, dark contemporary fantasy with elements of horror, you cannot go wrong with any of those three books.
