Yesterday brought two entanglement cases in quick succession. Flamingo had become tangled in a badminton net, tightly wrapped around her neck and a hind leg. She’s received pain relief and fluids, and the swelling in her leg has reduced significantly overnight 💚🦔🐾

Little Bee arrived very weak and severely dehydrated, needing subcutaneous fluids to help stabilise her condition. We’re concerned there may be kidney damage as a result of the dehydration, but we’re doing everything we can to give her the best chance 🤞🦔🐾
Zig, Zag and Zoom are starting to self feed 🙌 They arrived with us just 5 days ago — weak, cold and dehydrated. They’re currently receiving treatment for pneumonia, so seeing them begin to eat independently is such an encouraging sign! Keep going little ones 🤞🐾
2026: The Story So Far 🦔 728 admissions so far this year, including 253 in July alone. Our new Hogspital has transformed what we can achieve, but demand keeps growing. We’ve added 4 more incubators and are working to expand isolation facilities. Thank you for your support 💚🐾
Little El is still very weak and needs intensive care as we try to stabilise her condition. Brilliant to see her self feeding a little today! She’s on a specialist formula and convalescence food. A huge thank you to Aspects Holidays for sponsoring her incubator 💚🦔🐾
Huge thanks to St Clement Veterinary Clinic ❤️ On Wednesday, Chris performed an enucleation on Wombat after trauma left one of her eyes beyond saving and causing her significant pain. She’s in poor condition, but we’re hopeful that now she’s more comfortable she’ll pick up🤞🦔
It’s not just hoglets keeping us busy! Meet Ape, found trapped in a drain. His front claws are worn from trying to escape, but thankfully haven’t bled. He’s exhausted but otherwise in good condition, hopefully a couple of days recuperating and he will be ready for release 🤞🦔🐾
No prizes for guessing who cleared the first dish of food… 👀 Teddy 🦔🍽️ Don’t worry though, Bear wasn’t left hungry—we topped the dish back up! 💚
In case you hadn’t realised… we’re in peak hoglet season! 😅🦔 Meet Yapok admission number 701, who has come to us from Landrake weighing just 105g. He’s now safely tucked up in one of our incubators. At the rate we’re going, we may have to find space for even more incubators
Yak was quickly followed by Yorkie – our 700th admission of the year! 🦔💚 Like Yak, Yorkie has gone straight into one of our incubators to keep warm and receive the care he needs. He’s only 110g We have all 17 incubators running and 150 patients currently in our care 🫶
Just 6 new admissions today… a quiet day by recent standards! 💚🦔🐾 Meet Yak, our 699th admission of the year. He came to us after being found wandering on a beach in broad daylight. At just 120g, he’s now safely tucked up in one of our incubators 🫶
Gecko’s progress has slowed a little so today he tried some Vetcal Pro Gel, a high calories supplement to give him a boost, safe to say he likes it! 🫶🦔🐾
Firefly is one of our current Ringworm cases🐾 She’s completed her first round of treatment and is eating well and gaining weight. In between treatment courses, she’s having moisturising oatmeal spray to help soothe her dry skin before her medicated treatment restarts 🫶
The gorgeous Butter will be following in the footsteps of siblings Bread and Pudding, heading back out to the wild tomorrow 🫶🦔🐾
Look at that little nose! 🥹🦔 It’s so lovely to see Goblin bright, alert and happily feeding himself 💚 When Goblin arrived with us, he was severely hypothermic, collapsed and suffering from flystrike.
11 admissions today, making it an all-hands-on-deck kind of day… so apologies for the lack of photos! 😅 In the meantime, meet Mulder & Scully, who came in yesterday and are already self-feeding like absolute champs! 🫶🐾
The Calamity Crew’s little eyes are starting to open! 🥹 This is a big milestone and means they’re now around 2 weeks old 💚🦔🐾
The 10th and last admission of the day yesterday was little Raven from St Eval 🫶
The admissions keep coming!🦔 We now have 148 patients onsite & the team is flat out treating patients, triaging calls, stabilising new admissions & organising releases. Updates and emails may be slower than usual - hedgehog care come first. Thanks for your patience & support 🫶
A couple of days ago we admitted the Calamity litter - Crash, Bang and Wallop! They are finally settling into a feeding routine 🙌
Little Doompa is making slow but steady progress. 🥹💚 She’s growing up fast and, before long, she’ll be graduating to an outdoor hutch to prepare for her return to the wild! 🙌🦔🐾
Release time for Jellyfish! 🪼💚 A huge thank you to Classic Cottages for sponsoring the hutch Jellyfish has been recuperating in after becoming entangled in netting. Thankfully he had no complications, just 7 days of monitoring, and now heading back to the wild! 🦔🐾
Introducing the Calamity Crew… Crash, Bang & Wallop! 🦔💥 This feisty trio are now settling into a feeding routine. At under 2 weeks old, they’re on 3-hourly formula feeds with a little Royal Canin Gastro Mousse. Fingers crossed they keep thriving! 🤞🦔🐾
Meet Monkey 👋 Monkey came to us from Pelyn Vets, he had wounds to his back, feet and nose. He’s stable and is receiving antibiotics, pain relief and supportive care. We’re hopeful that as his treatment progresses, he’ll continue to improve 🤞🦔🐾
Vet trip yesterday for a couple of our hedgehogs, including Narwhal, who had an abscess drained and flushed, a puncture wound by her ear cleaned, and X-rays that thankfully showed no fractures. She’s now on medication and being monitored closely. Hoping for a smooth recovery 🤞🦔
Still can’t quite believe this is now the rescue 💙 Every morning we’re reminded what this amazing community has made possible! 147 hedgehogs & hoglets currently in our care. Thank you for helping us build this 🫶🦔🐾
Gecko is getting stronger by the day! 💚He’s even started trying to self-feed! 🥹 He’s not quite taking in enough by himself yet, so we’re still giving him a helping hand, but this is such a positive milestone and a big step in the right direction. Keep going, Gecko! 🫶✨
Biscuit taste test! 🦔🐾 We currently have over 100 hoglets of varying ages in our care, each one needing specialist care, food, warmth and support until they’re ready for life back in the wild 🫶
Meet Lynx 💚🦔 One of 8 new admissions yesterday, Lynx was found out alone in Trevone. He’s now safely settled into an incubator and is already self-feeding 🙌
