Watched a recording of the BBC Proms Prog night this afternoon. Lovely to see the genre getting some recognition after all these years, but TBH I thought both Guy Garvey and Jane Weaver (especially) were average at best.
What better way to end a warm afternoon than to sit in the sun with a drink and some decent music? I can still remember hearing this for the first time in a friend’s house over his father’s monster speakers. I bought it as soon as I could save enough money from my paper round.

Loving this recently released album from Flight76. Conceived by a young & short-lived teenage band based in Hastings in 1975 and finished 50 years later, this album combines heavy guitar riffs and cosmic keyboards to deliver a heavy, space-rock listen. Well worth a play IMHO.

Back home after a wonderful few days. Marillion, Pompeii amphitheatre and a drive along the spectacular Amalfi Coast Road just a few hours before a rock-fall which has now shut it! Everything seems very calm and quiet compared with the Naples traffic. Time for some music …
Now playing … IMHO their best, despite the excellent Woodcut. Greg Spawnton’s hugely insightful lyrics to Last Eleven never fail ms to strike a chord with me given personal circumstances. A brilliant album from start to finish.

Great day spent in Pompeii along with hundreds of other Freaks. Marillion t-shirts literally everywhere. Spoke to Mark K and had lunch on the table next to Pete T. The place is literally buzzing with anticipation for tomorrow’s gig. What a wonderful way to spend a few days.
Off to Naples tomorrow with my better half en-route to Saturday’s Pompeii gig. Anyone else attending? If so, do pop by and say hello. We’re in row 1 about a dozen seats from the front on the left hand side of the raised Tribuna section. Safe travels 👍🎸
