Zanzibar red colobuses (Piliocolobus kirkii), also called Kirk's red colobus monkeys, are endemic to islands in the Zanzibar Archipelago. They supplement their leafy diets with charcoal to soothe their digestive systems. Threatened by hunting and habitat loss. Endangered and Critically Depleted.

Greater bamboo lemurs (Prolemur simus) were thought extinct in the mid-1900s. Rediscovered in southeastern Madagascar in the 1960s and '70s. Bamboo serves as their primary source of food. Threatened by habitat loss due to agriculture, climate change, and hunting. Critically Endangered.

Collared brown lemurs (Eulemur collaris) are endemic to southeastern Madagascar. Cathemeral, they are active both day and night throughout the year. Their activity is strongly influenced by nocturnal luminosity. Threatened by habitat destruction and hunting. Listed as Endangered.

Vervets (Chlorocebus pygerythrus) are widely distributed throughout eastern Africa from the Ethiopian Highlands to South Africa. Very adaptable, they easily occupy human settlements where they are persecuted as pests. Although widespread throughout their vast range, their populations are decreasing.

Geoffroy's dwarf lemurs (Cheirogaleus major), also called greater dwarf lemurs, are nocturnal. In times of plenty, they store fat in their tails; in times of lack, they become torpid, slowing down their bodily functions, and living on their fat stores. Threatened by habitat loss. Vulnerable.

Indris (Indri indri) are endemic to Madagascar's eastern rainforests. Populations in the north are black, those in the south are black-and-white, those in between exhibit both color patterns. Threatened by habitat loss, forest fragmentation, and illegal hunting. Listed as Critically Endangered.
