I think it’s because social media has both generations interacting. Gen X are not of the internet era. Most were not interacting with millennials who would’ve done the same to them.

I can tell they didn’t initially have much faith in the franchise to begin with. Infinity War and Endgame were filmed before BP1 came out. If they knew how successful it was, I guarantee the character would’ve been featured more heavily in those movies.
