East Herts Sabs have secured a second Community Protection Warning against the Puckeridge & Essex Hunt, after months of gathering evidence of illegal hunting, trespass and badger sett interference. And huntsman Rhys Matcham has been charged with illegal hunting after a deer was taken down by hounds.

Amazing to see coverage of the Guga hunt licence rejection on BBC Scotland Evening news! This is becoming a major public talking point.
People have been DELIBERATELY fuelling the flames of a wildfire which began in Llanwonno on Saturday afternoon. An area the size of 200 football pitches has been burnt, and on Tuesday, firefighters stated: "There were reports of deliberate fire-setting on the mountain last night."
TfL organised at least 123 shoots between March 2024 and March 2026. Pigeons trapped behind netting were gunned down, and nests were destroyed. Snipers even targeted chicks too young to leave their nests.
The young white-tailed eagles have returned to Exmoor for the first time in 200 years, with up to 20 more to follow over the next three years to help rebuild the area's wildlife.
A building in Hoo Zoo near Telford, Shropshire, caught fire on Monday morning. This is the second zoo in England to catch fire in just two months. Thankfully, this time no animals were injured, but these vulnerable animals would have been unable to flee if the fire had spread.
The Guga hunt isn’t over just yet! That’s why I walked / ran 16km in laps around the Scottish Parliament. Because only through amending Section 16 will the hunt end forever! It was a slog today and hopefully the last time I have to put on the iconic costume!
IT'S FINISHED! 16KM WALK/RUN AROUND THE SCOTTISH PARLIAMENT TO END THE GUGA HUNT FOREVER!
10KM TO GO! I'm running laps of the Scottish Parliament to call on the government to outlaw the Guga hunt for good. The 2026 Guga hunt licence was rejected yesterday but that only saves the Gannets for one year! We need the law changed so this horrific practice is stopped forever
I'm walking 16 kilometres in laps of the Scottish Parliament (dressed as a Gannet) to demand Section 16 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act is amended to finally bring the Guga hunt to an end.
I'm doing this walk to raise vital funds for the next phase of our campaign calling on the Scottish Government to outlaw the Guga hunt for good. Until this happens, we'll be caught in an endless loop fighting the licence to kill Gannet chicks every year!
Please support the fundraiser! Details below!

Incredible start to our fundraiser! Why 16km? Because we need Section 16 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act to be amended to ensure the Guga hunt is ended forever!
BRILLIANT NEWS! 🎉 Up to 2,000 Gannet chicks SAVED from being killed in this year’s Guga hunt. The decision has been made by NatureScot to REFUSE the application for the 2026 Guga hunt to go ahead.
FANTASTIC NEWS! The 2026 Guga hunt licence has been REJECTED by NatureScot. Up to 2,000 Gannet chicks SAVED! 😊
What a headline! A victory for compassion, science and common sense!

Each year hundreds of gannet chicks are killed for their meat on the uninhabited Hebridean island of Sula Sgeir.

In just over an hour, NatureScot will make their decision on whether the 2026 Guga hunt will be allowed to go ahead.
Cub hunting starts soon. Families will be torn apart, the cubs too young to escape. Wear the pin. Fund the fight. 🦊
Under a new pilot scheme, badgers are being trapped, tested for bovine TB, and killed if positive. But there's no solid evidence that this stops the spread of bovine TB in cows. The science points to cow-to-cow transmission, not badgers, as the real problem.
Tomorrow is decision day on whether the Guga hunt will go ahead - the shocking archaic tradition of beating baby Gannets to death on the Scottish island of Sula Sgeir. We've given everything we can to stop it, and now we can only hope NatureScot make the right choice.
If the answer is yes, please take a minute to sign our letter to the Welsh government, telling it not to make the same mistake as in England. Right now Wales is considering a cull, so we need to make our voices heard.
The government has launched a public consultation on proposed changes to fireworks legislation. Protect the Wild believes that to protect animals, fireworks should be restricted to professional displays.
Every time we challenge hunting, someone brings up cats. Here’s the difference: a cat can’t reason about right and wrong. A human can, and still chooses to kill for fun.
Protect the Wild believes that fireworks should be banned from public use. The government has launched a public consultation, asking for opinions on proposed changes to fireworks legislation.
