India has decided to abandon the purchase of Russian Su-57 fighter jets.
India will not purchase new Russian Sukhoi fighter jets, including the Su-57, in the near future, according to Defense Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh. He stated that the country's authorities want to focus on modernizing its existing fighter fleet.

"No, we haven't considered new Sukhoi aircraft.
India is actively modernizing its existing Sukhoi fighters, which it produces under Russian license," said Rajesh Kumar Singh (quoted by Defense Security Asia).

India operates approximately 260 Su-30MKI fighters. According to Defense Security Asia, Russia has offered to purchase 36 to 40 Su-57 fighters from India. Russian President Vladimir Putin stated in June that Moscow was ready to supply Su-57 fighters to New Delhi.

The number of bulk carriers available for coal exports from Russia has decreased.

The availability of vessels for coal exports significantly decreased by the end of July. In the Black Sea, due to increased shipping risks, the number of available bulk carriers—ships carrying bulk cargo—fell by 21% in a month. In the Far East, given growing demand in South Korea, the reduced availability of tonnage led to a 5-10% increase in freight rates. Logistics constraints may increase the price of Russian coal on global markets, but this will not offset the increased transportation costs.

The number of cows in the Novosibirsk region decreased by 15% in the first half of the year.

Moscow. August 4. INTERFAX.RU - The Novosibirsk region, where a large outbreak of pasteurellosis was detected this winter, has reported a decrease in the cattle population, including cows, in the first half of the year, beginning in late June of last year.

According to Novosibirskstat's report on the region's socio-economic situation, the cow population decreased by 14.7% over the year to 127,500 head. Overall, the cattle population decreased by 13.3% to 310,900, sheep and goats by 21.6% to 118,300, and pigs by 10.3% to 315,500. At the same time, the poultry population increased by 1.2% to 9.5 million.

"In agricultural organizations that are not small businesses, as of the end of June 2026, compared to the same date in 2025, the number of cattle decreased by 12.1%, sheep and goats by 2.5%, and poultry increased by 3%," the report says.

In the first half of the year, Novosibirsk Oblast reduced livestock production compared to the same period last year. Production of livestock and poultry for slaughter amounted to 103,400 tons (a decrease of 2.9%), milk to 362,500 tons (a decrease of 14.2%), and eggs to 441.6 million (a decrease of 2.1%).

As reported, a state of emergency was declared in the Novosibirsk Region on February 16 due to pasteurellosis and rabies in livestock. Pasteurellosis was detected in six settlements across five districts of the region, and rabies was detected in more than 70 outbreaks. Animals from pasteurellosis outbreaks were seized and slaughtered. The removal of animals from both large farms and private farms has now been completed . The state of emergency has been lifted .

FESCO will suspend accepting applications for shipments across the Black Sea.

Moscow, August 4. INTERFAX.RU - Following the incident with the Yanina vessel, the FESCO Transport Group (part of the Rosatom State Corporation) is temporarily suspending new requests for shipments across the Black Sea until a decision is made based on risk factors, the company announced.

"The safety of crews and cargo is FESCO's absolute priority. The group is currently exploring possible delivery options while adhering to all safety measures. Any changes in status will be communicated further," the statement reads.

As reported, the Yanina motor vessel, owned by FESCO, was damaged in an attack by two Ukrainian naval drones on the night of August 1 and sank 130 miles from Novorossiysk. All 17 crew members were rescued.

FESCO Transport Group owns assets in the port, railway, and integrated logistics businesses.

Moscow. August 4. INTERFAX.RU - VTB withheld a portion of its 2025 dividend payment in the amount of 272 million rubles as part of interim measures in its successful lawsuit against Bank of New York Mellon, according to the bank's documents.

On Tuesday, the bank announced that it had transferred dividends for 2025 totaling 31.8 billion rubles to private investors, stating that the obligation had been fulfilled by 99.15%. VTB cited compliance with a court order as the reason for the incomplete dividend payment.

As the bank's press service explained to Interfax, VTB complied with the decision of the Arbitration Court of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region dated July 8, 2026, to adopt interim measures in the case concerning VTB's claim against Bank of New York Mellon Corporation.

In November 2025, the court upheld VTB's claim against the American bank for $14.6 million in damages. Following the imposition of sanctions against the Russian bank in 2022, Bank of New York Mellon transferred these funds to a special OFAC Suspense Account. In early 2024, VTB demanded the return of the funds from Bank of New York Mellon but received no response. In court, the defendant insisted that VTB should apply directly to OFAC for the funds to be unfrozen. The court upheld the Russian bank's claim and awarded Bank of New York Mellon $14.3 million in frozen funds and $300,000 in lost profits.

According to court documents, in early July, VTB filed a motion for injunctive relief in this dispute. On July 8, the court granted the bank's motion and prohibited the payment of dividends for 2025, totaling 272.5 million rubles on 28 million common shares, to the accounts of nominee shareholders of NSD, Raiffeisenbank, and Citibank, owed to Bank of New York Mellon Corporation.
