Earlier this summer, PSF funded $6,000 for the BC Conservation Foundation and the Snuneymuxw First Nation to salvage juvenile salmon in Nanaimo. So far, crews have rescued more than 5,000 fish and are working toward a plan that will allow more timed "pulse" water releases.

Ever seen 30,000 steelhead enter the ocean? Earlier this summer, Steelhead Lager joined PSF to participate in a steelhead release from the Seymour River Hatchery. Now they'll spend several years at sea before coming home to spawn in local streams.

PSF joined partners this week to celebrate the re-opening of qapoje Park in Comox. qapoje (kah-poh’-jeh) means “spring salmon in a creek flowing south” and the reimagined greenspace will support previously lost salmon habitat in the Comox estuary. The park is now open to the public.

To combat the spread of whirling disease, Clean, Drain and Dry all boats and equipment when moving between water bodies. With PSF support, local stewards at Central Kootenay Invasive Species Society will lead community outreach among water users this summer.
