Saw an AI generated reel on insta the other day portraying John Lennon if he’d lived & it was such vile, low intelligence nonsense slop that it made the Paul is dead crowd look like like Mensa members. There’s a lot of negativity around generative-AI but I think we need to be MORE negative.

A couple of years ago I did this MIDI recreation of the Eleanor Rigby strings for an online class I was teaching. The purpose was to be able to play each instrument in isolation. Now with three volumes of George Martin score manuscripts, I'll be doing a lot more of these.
With some of George Martin's scores in hand I'm entering them into Musescore to prepare detailed MIDI mockups, where I have much more control over expression, but the MS playback is pretty good for reference.

I saw Chilton play a lot in New Orleans in the 90s and he was uniformly brilliant in a very loose, exciting way, just as you would expect from a guy who knew the music business for what it was & lived on his own terms. This crowd earned every bit of his contempt.

I'm just finishing Stephen Greenblatt's Will In the World, which also connects the dots (for Shakespeare) in a similar, very satisfying way.

Rewatched this recently because I needed something old fashioned & charming. Seems like an absolutely lost world now (except for the mens' attitudes, which chafed a bit), but still gorgeous looking as ever. Professionally obligated Beatle connection: Larry Adler later worked with G Martin
Apologies for the delay on the next episode of the podcast. Been busy with regular work but also a continuing problem with my LG monitor. Sending it in for repair a SECOND time. I will never buy another LG product.
As a photographer I've always wanted this too. I also want the book that's taking shape with each episode of the podcast.
