Previews, reviews, and playthroughs of soloable board games both new and old (though to be honest, mostly new...)

New game on the review pile from Asmodee, Ninjago: Destiny's Bounty Adventures. It's a co-op crisis management game with six increasingly difficult scenarios. Very cool that as you level up in a scenario, you add weapons and accessories to your Lego figure!

Got my new copy of Trifle to the table today with my son, as his introduction to trick taking. It's a very simple may follow game, where you're scoring the value of the cards you win in your tricks, with the twist that the highest card, the Q, is not a number so is worth 0.

Played my first game of Walking in Kamogawa from Emperor S4. The rules are a bit rough (the Japanese rules are a bit better), but it's a pretty fun tile laying, set collection game with some interesting scoring mechanisms, that also seems to play pretty well solo!

Got Civolution back to the table today in preparation for recording (hopefully tomorrow), and I still really love this game. But I'm definitely not good at it. Lost by one point this time, 196-197, against the beginner level AI...

Finished out the night tonight with a few more plays of Doom Cat and finally pulled off a win! Had mistakenly read the solo win as 70 points, when it's actually 70 points PER CARD...whoops. Still digging the fun twist on a drawing/spatial puzzler roll and write.

Been playing a bunch of Tend since I got it last week, and while I don't love the lack of win condition in solo, I'm really enjoying the mechanics of the game. I also love the only web app and how there are solo challenges in the book using that. Video coming soon!

Been getting back into Sagrada lately, so couldn't pass this up when I saw it for half price and then also realized I could use my $10 Shop credit on it as well! Curious to see what a legacy, coloring book version of Sagrada is like.

Got Adamastor back to the table today for a play in prep for a video and then again as a recorded playthrough. Managed to win in the first play and was kicking myself that I didn't record, but then managed to pull off another win on camera!

Got Gift Craft to the table for a solo play, and enjoying what I've seen so far. It's a very quick pick and pass closed drafting game where you draft six cards to build up resources to make a stuffie and score as many points as possible.

First game of Doom Cat in the books, and another Charming Games Collective game that I really enjoy! The drawing of the sigils is a pretty fun and unique twist on what is a very simple roll and write mechanism, and working to maximize goal scoring is a great puzzle. Excited about all the goals!
