2024 music top 10 #5 Houses Of Heaven - Within/Without The highly anticipated follow up to 2020's "Silent Places" does not disappoint. Tense, unsettling darkwave backed with taut EBM percussion. Features excellent guest vocals from Doug McCarthy and Ms. Boan.
2024 music top 10 #6 MVTANT - Electronic Body Horror An EBM album about body horror, and it does what it says on the tin. Grimy, heavily chopped samples drive the rhythm, with anxious half-whispered vocals create a palpable sense of fear.
2024 music top 10 #7 Nox Novacula - Feed The Fire An album of the passionate, politically charged death rock that we expect from NN. The most memorable track, "Stay", is slower and more reserved but just as emotionally intense.
2024 music top 10 #8 Tears For The Dying - In The Shadow Of The Midnight Sun This album hammers the listener with brutal punky death rock before settling into a more relaxed, melodic goth style in the 2nd half. The single "Dead Girl Dancing" is an instant classic.
2024 music top 10: #9 Night Sins - A Silver Blade In The Shadow Night Sins continue to carry the torch for classic goth rock with poppy hooks. 2nd track "Silver Blade" is a perfect take on FaLaA-era Sisters. Great album art, complete with Calson Antique font.
Presenting: my top 10 music releases of 2024. #10: Ultra Sunn - US An album of catchy, distinctly European-sounding club bangers. They delivered the goods at their Vancouver show earlier this year. I love that singer Sam Huge is actually very tall.
