IMSA is evaluating the possibility of mandating all active GTD manufacturers in the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship to also have a car in the GTD Pro class, beginning as early as next year.

What I want to know is why nobody ever has a *short* race for nationalistic reasons. The Macau Grand Prix could be 19 minutes and 99 seconds long to mark when Macau became an SAR of China! Or maybe do 19.99 laps and annoy whoever has to paint start and finish lines 61.2 metres apart exactly.

Preempting the obvious objection: yes, the Qataris do indeed set the distance of their WEC race for silly nationalistic reasons. We laughed at them when they did that too.

The thing about IMSA is that it'd be obvious to blame the poor driving standards on the amateurs but we've just seen three professionals crash in two corners off a restart. I don't know why they are like this.

I've watched 10 minutes of this race and there's been two different crashes to bring out an FCY.

The final tyre war in top-level motorsport (at least that I know about) comes to an end. Tyre peace will reign.

Roman De Angelis is hoping that he and co-driver Ross Gunn can turn around their year of misfortune and bad luck in the final three-race stretch of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season.

We should be clear-eyed about this, though: the purpose of UEFA's boycott is to protect the structural inequalities in the game that mean all the best players play for European clubs and result in UEFA being 75% of the quarter-finalists in every WC. There's not any good guys here.

Domenicali's statement contains the interesting assertion that it's not possible to arrange an F1 race on contingency/at the last minute outside of Europe (and potentially the Middle East where they can't race anyway in this scenario I guess). I am skeptical.

On the WEC calendar change from a competitive standpoint: Barcelona is similar to Bahrain in that it's a highly abrasive track which is quite high-downforce by WEC standards. Bahrain has been a Toyota track so Barcelona probably will be. Monza is chicanes and straights, most similar to Le Mans.

Have to admit I'm slightly surprised to have seen the IR-28 before the Oreca 09, in the overall scheme of things.

Have decided that I approve of the IR-28's LED panels only if they give the driver a button to display a sarcastic thumbs up symbol when the guy in front does something stupid.

German F4! The previous attempt died because it couldn't keep costs under control and everyone went to either Italian or French F4 because it was more affordable. But Germany really should have its own F4 series so hopefully they can keep prices lower this time. (Note the FIA certification, too).
