Using #photography to fill boring days or entertaining my "Hunnnayyyy!!!". Previously, I wore many hats in various data roles spanning more than 25 years. Also shitposting about Northern #Virginia #NoVa #nikon #python #programming

EL-SAYED: I get that the President takes personal offense to my first name. He doesn't mind as much when it's the Saudis who are funding his son-in-law's private equity. Doesn't seem to mind as much when it's the Qataris who are giving them a $400 million private jet…

Sorry #EPA, was wondering how much coverage I can get pinging over 3,300 U.S. counties AQI data from AirNow API. Your flat files were pitiful in terms of coverage, so decided to go with this route. Still a lot of counties missing, but better compared to flat files. docs.airnowapi.org

Map of the U.S. - a heatmap-type "choropleth" chart showing max air quality index at the county level.

Recently, looked at BLS.gov data (series ID "CES0000000001" aka "Jobs Added, seasonally adjusted") from 2006 thru present. Not looking good for 2026 and beyond. Feel like one bad news away for things to take a dump. Midterm results? Iran war taking a turn for the worse? AI investment bubble?

How it's going working with a painter: "Well to paint the rest of the window sill, we have to remove the window screen". Like really?! Yes Captain Obvious, you have to remove the Fn window screen to paint the rest of the sill. Tell me you just want to cut corners without telling me.

Old age+computer work. Used to have shoulder pains w I couldnt even cross my arms. Doc told me to have scans done, then possibly surgery. My gut feeling was I just needed to do stretches, but didnt know techniques. After some YT video searches, found stretches with broom stick. All fine now.

Those bashing #python as a #programming language, wonder why are they bothered by it? I just assume cuz they keep hearing about it. I think Python is great for doing data work. I wish more large corp ITs are actually supportive of it. Many are ex-Java/C# shops that treat it like a stepchild.

I wince when some1 says they do data analysis with #SQL or wonder what they mean doing "data analysis" with SQL? That sounds painful or their analysis is very high level (ie can be done with AI). SQL is great for simple counts or aggregations or you need do some heavy lifting of large data sets.

I have interacted with multigenerational Virginian African Americans and multigenerational Maryland African Americans. If you know about #Virginia being a "slave state" and Maryland being the "free state", you can guess which group tend to have higher negative societal viewpoints.

I see 2 types of sentiments in northern #Virginia. It's great because of the cultural diversity. It's not great due to it also. Northern Virginia is sometimes referred to as not "true" Virginia. I feel like when someone says this, this is remnants of Virginia's slave state history kicking in...

I wonder how much #emissions each vehicle is releasing on average per minute while waiting in queue at an emissions testing station in Virginia? Or they could make RapidPass more widely available? Also red lights at traffic stops stay red for 3 minutes. Things I noticed when moving to #Virginia.
