I love Toledo and the people here. We're a broken and small little rust belt city with every problem in the book, but the people here are so genuinely kind and real. I have real hope for us, and it breaks my heart that the rest of the country and overseas have no faith in us. Don't give up on us.
The sheer amount of vileness in comment sections in all media outlets about what happened makes me physically ill. Between the racism, classism, and the fact that Ohio is a red state, I've seen people be really adamant that we somehow deserved what happened.
Heyy if anybody heard about a mass shooting at a festival in Toledo yesterday, I'm marking myself as safe and accounted for. It happened 2 blocks from my place and the whole neighborhood is shaken up over it.
