I really love when you can see the library check out dates on a scanned internet archive book.

So a few years ago Microsoft and Oreo collaborated (?) and added Oreo emojis to Teams (?!) but more importantly, there was a Clippy themed cookie dipper (!!!!???).
I think I mistyped my email when I ordered The Iliad because I have no confirmation or shipping info or anything. So YET AGAIN, we must stare at the skies and wonder where it is. It’s a real…it’s a real Iliad…wait what does Iliad even mean? It just means “poem of Troy”? Huh.
I’m glad people found this funny because it is and I miss my dad, for all his faults (which he admits to). I wish he would speak to me. It’s been six years. I keep reaching out. I miss him. Maybe this is my punishment for not becoming a sick ass cool woman DJ!
When I was 11, my dad had a serious sit down talk with me: “if you want to be a DJ when you grow up, that’s okay, you can, women can be DJs.” Even then, I had no idea where this came from. I never once expressed any interest in DJing and still wonder if this was a euphemism??
I was trying to find a picture of those grandmacore chicken tea pots but no, I found something so much better. Genuinely love this.
Nettle is VERY thorough in her grooming and plucks herself like a damned chicken with anxiety.
Things I am thankful for that all happened before noon: Saw a wild fox! My favorite neighbor helped me ID a black kite! Ivy the cat slept in our bed because she was scared of thunder!
Cormorants look weird when they are drying their wings. This was a haiku.
Does anyone else track their cats’ tooth health by snagging pictures of them mid-yawn? What if our dentists did this.
Read. Damn, that was fun. Wilson’s lean translation strips away the epic to its essentials. We can discourse all day about it (zzz…) but her intro defends her choices spectacularly and my sheer enjoyment confirms it. Intense, often quite funny, and more “human” than I expected.

Enjoying the odyssey so much that I have started over the chapter where he kills the suitors three times because the build up is intense, I’m like a kid rewinding a movie. I would have annoyed bards so much, interrupting and asking them to do it again from the top.
Gonna ask my doctor for a prescription to go touch a horse. I need a 30-day supply of horse scent and petting. Extra strength brushing and maybe a few small neighs.
I like that the geese kept in line with the canoe. They should race.
Vague vent post: Having The Illness in our current social culture while working very hard at overcoming The Illness so that I do not die of organ failure is a lot and I am God’s strongest soldier. If you know you KNOW. And if you don’t, I envy you.
Putting my electric pokemon outside to charge, call that solar power.
Bestie made my husband and I custom embroidered hand cloths and I now know true luxury.
Real direct to dvd Disney sequelheads know the TRUE “hear me out” is from beauty and the beast’s enchanted Christmas, thank you Tim Curry.
I dreamt I had a car shaped like squidward’s face. It was devastating to wake up.
I found the “What’s the matter lagerboy, afraid you might taste something?” beer and this is like meeting my favorite celebrity.
My husband texts me updates from the zoo newsletter, romance is alive.
Don’t make me go back to work Monday; our morning walks are so quiet. I saw frogs and a dead mole — yesterday I saw a dead snake. Downstairs neighbor’s fear of snakes: vindicated?
Now I obviously have issues with targeted ads because the future is terrifying BUT when I get a cat food commercial I’m ready to give away my entire digital footprint.
Sharing a poem I love. The last funeral I went to, my cousin and I got ice cream afterwards, she slept over, a happy day tbh. I wasn’t able to be at her own funeral. The last stanza, I don’t know, sometimes I just can’t get it all out of my mind. Enjoy the poem with me.
So I’m naming him Odysseus — Oddy for short. Kiss him on the nose for good luck and a small zap.
My best friend bought a book that sounds suspiciously like veggietales fic with the serial numbers filed off and class, I’m gonna be real, I do not know what to do with this information.
Beating the heat by going for an early morning walk is so goated. The swans are growing up. Everyone was out walking their dogs. Saw my favorite old man neighbor. One day I’ll BE the old neighbor.
Really enjoyed Emily Wilson’s introduction/notes to The Odyssey and loving her translation so far. I may be inviting her to the dream blunt rotation. (Hilary Mantel, Ursula Le Guin, and Mary Beard, duh.) I am so pumped that I got a thematic wine prepped for the weekend.
Just bought a lipstick called Kinda Sexy and I can’t help but read the name as an insult. “I mean, I guess the stilettos are kiiiiinda sexy?”
