Not a real hatrack

I cleaned and packed up the amaryllis, crocosmia, and Abyssinian Gladiolus bulbs then stuck them in the cool bulb fridge today. Still need to do the same for cannas, callas, and dahlias. Will probably plant the garlic this weekend. November gardening in Wisconsin.🌱

I did some heavy "lifting" in the garden today, planted a couple of tulip and crocus pots for Dr. Mrs. Hatrack, and put the last of the alliums willy-nilly around the prairie and cottage gardens. I still have nearly 100 tulips (THEY WERE ON SALE!), some daffs and crocuses, and the garlic to plant.🌱

Monday desk bouquet🌱 There's frost in the forecast for Friday night, so I'll be bringing stuff in all week. We made it past Halloween last year, but this fall has been much closer to normal.

From top to bottom:
Polka - a pink and peach colored ball dahlia

David Howard - a yellow and orange dahlia making his first appearance in the garden

Gallery Monet - or his friends call him, Claude. A creamy white dahlia with delicate purple stripes

An orange dahlia who failed to introduce themself.

Ninety-one bulbs planted today - three varieties of tulips, daffodils, snowdrops, and fritillary michaelovskyi. It's still too soon to plant the garlic and I'm waiting on a delivery of alliums.🌱

Stopped by my garlic guy's house on the way home to pick up bulbs to plant this fall. Just shy of two pounds of hardneck Music for $25. Saw the same variety online selling at 5 bulbs for $22.🌱

My Green Eyed Susies turned out much taller than I expected. The ones on the right are 5 ft and the others got a Chelsea Chop and they still got to 4 ft. I want to transplant them further back so we can see everything else better. We're about 4-6 weeks from first frost. Any thoughts on the timing?🌱

A stand of Green Eyed Rudbeckia tower over their neighbors in a small garden next to a pale yellow garage.

The gardener should have expected this since his own green eyed Susie is three inches taller than him.
