The many faces of Oliver, my tech bro MC for my manga one-shot (contest entry). This is the story that addresses AI, automation and jobless. It’s actually about a bromance, but that’s because human intimacy and care for each other is what will help us in these dark times.

I’ll be at Supanova next weekend as comics guest! 🥳 📚With a new zine of my Viz one-shot, ‘The Mystery Case of Sister Holmes’! 🕵️✝️ 📆 19-21st June 🚪 Sydney Olympic Park Get your tickets and see you all!

Ah, so 2 things ruining the job market for young grads: 🌏Remote work -- Work that don't require you to be somewhere is now open to anyone anywhere. 🤖A.I. -- Entry level jobs have vanished. As A.I. helps simple tasks get done, entry-level job workloads has been moved onto experienced employees.

Storyboarding is absolutely the most vital part of production. In the manga industry, nothing goes ahead unless the "name" has been approved. If something is boring, the editor will red flag. You'll need to fix it within a very short amount of time for reapproval, so not at all a low-level skill!

Storyboarding is the first step of transforming a story/script into a coherent, consistent, and easily digestible visual narrative, from first scene to the last. It is also the last easiest step in the process to revamp and rework scenes before we move on to the more expensive parts of production.

Rare is it to see a how-to for making non-fiction comics. I’m nabbing this book since it’s a valuable and overlooked category of comics!

I deeply implore anyone who is voting in the Eisner Awards to vote for MAKING NONFICTION COMICS by @elerimai.bsky.social and @mirkdrop.bsky.social in the Comics Related Book category. This is brilliant and helpful and will stand the test of time alongside other texts about making comics.

A hardcover copy of Making Nonfiction Comics by Eleri Harris and Shay Mirk on my shelf.
