According to the Delaware School Survey, as many as 1 in 4 teens in DE may be LGBTQ+. Even 4 years after intial COVID lockdowns, mental health disparities among LGBTQ+ teens remains a public health crisis. >80% of LGBTQ+ DE teens reported psychological distress, compared to 50-60% of cishet teens.

In Delaware, as many as 25% of adolescents may identify as LGBTQ+. In the 2022-24 DE School Survey, mental health symptoms and underage substance use levels were alamring for all youth, and all outcomes were worse for LGBTQ+ youth. Access our new article: djph.org/wp-content/u...

🚨New research from grad student lab member August Wei shows the protective effect of family connectedness on suicide thoughts/behaviors among LGBTQ+ youth presenting at emergency departments.
