The database was down for a few hours from midnight UTC on. Sorry, we didn't catch it that fast. Everything is resolved and there was no data loss. (Even if, we have regular backups)

When you fix all the bugs you know of and your error logs don't get any errors after a release anymore. Had to force an error to ensure I didn't break the logging. 😬 That's satisfying.
Nothing special, but I released Questlog 1.7.0 You won't see much of a difference, but the page should feel quicker. Currently there's a calculation running to make this possible, so it might take a while until it really kicks in, but especially the Similar Games are much much faster now […]

I still have a few performance issues on my list. But the current performance should be much better than two weeks ago. If you encounter something that feels slow, please let me know. Especially people with huge accounts. Many playlists, many games etc. There are some accounts that are much […]

I probably should've generated a sharing-image based on the games for Franchises so the shared link not only shows the Questlog logo :D That's another issue for later.
Hi there! I finally got the Franchise feature to a level I don't hate :D Similar games are great, but it's also good to know which games belong to each other. That's now visible via Franchises. The source of that is the IGDB as always, but that data is extremely messy, so I needed to find a […]

Okay. That's odd. Someone seemingly builds an MCP Connector for Questlog. User Agent: `mcp-gaming/1.0 (personal MCP connector; contact via questlog.app/u/[REDACTED])` (I don't expose the user here, therefore redacted) I just saw this in my error logs, als someone tried the wrong route to […]

Just a quick update. YouTube changed the API for Videos and Thumbnails weren't correctly fetched anymore. This was annoying and I wanted to hotfix it. Anyways I had some stuff laying around already that was supposed to be in an 1.6 update, but here we are. So some Fixes and two improvements. 1 […]

Trying to implement Franchises for a few days now. The data from the IGDB is so messy, it's really hard to get good relations. I already regret that I started this, thinking it would be a quick win… It's not. I'm 25 commits in and still not done… I hope when I go to the next big topic […]

Info: The search is failing for a few moments, as we update the engine and naturally it fails :D
Hi there. Questlog 1.5.0 just dropped. Tracking what you're playing or want to play got a bit easier and the community features got a bit more love. This update again focuses more on discovering things. Where to focus in the last update was discovering games, this update extends this to […]

Questlog is quite slow the last days. So for maintenance reasons Questlog will be down for 5-10 minutes. Hopefully nothing goes wrong. After this everything should be as fast as it was a few weeks ago.
Hi there. Small update: Games you have on Playlists or have reviewed already aren't recommended anymore. Before that only included games you have logged in one of the 5 statuses. Also: The Trending section should have better results now. Somehow I turned numbers and the multiplier for games in […]

Oh and don't forget, the #SummerGameFest is currently running. So if you don't want to miss any events around this Questlog keeps you covered. The page is available also for Guests so it might be a good overview even if you track your Games somewhere else. But […] [Original post on mstdn.games]
Hi there! I new Update just dropped. It's Questlog 1.4.0 an I call it "The Discovery Update". Questlog always was (and still is) about tracking the games you're currently playing and still want to play. The new Update helps you discovering new games or remembering games you played when you […]

Working on a Recommendation System right now. And the ideas for improving Discovery of Games and Stuff are coming in. The moment I build something and see how it works I instantly get a new idea and work on it. Suddenly had a idea for a major overhaul of the Discovery system. I have to sort my […]

I guess the development of Questlog is paused for a while. I just started with Vampire Crawlers and I guess every free minute now belongs to this game. 😅 If you have to much time or need a lot of dopamine, check it out. It's awesome! […]

Hi there, Questlog here. Your (hopefully) favorite Game Tracker :D Questlog 1.3.0 just dropped! With it the teased new Game Detail Page but also a load of other improvements. And as you can see a fun little Share Sheet, many of you asked about. So if you write […] [Original post on mstdn.games]
Maybe the next update will be "a bit" bigger than usual :D The updated game page opened up so much things I could improve and ideas to improve the data and stuff just were flowing. Ich will test this a few days in my dev build and maybe use the long weekend here in Germany to publish the update.
I'm currently working on a completely overhauled Game Page. It started by shifting stuff a bit around but now I implement new features and clean up everything. The current game page is messy and it shows that it still has the initial design from three years ago where the only things were a few […]

We have a small Spam Register Problem. I really don't want to add any Captchas or stuff like that. Especially not these that connect to a third party server. I wonder if email verification would help. At least for major actions like reviews. 🤔 But I don't care about your email addresses. (I do […]

Hi there! A new Update of Questlog just dropped. I improved the Reviews based on your feedback. And a small feature I always wanted to have. It's finally possible to rate a game without writing a review. So after you finished a game it's only one click to say if you liked it or not. Nice! […]

Ugh… Just got a "IGDB Partner Satisfaction Survey". The questions imply they want to change something to their free offering. Fingers crossed this won't be a premium API in the future. This would be a major disruption to many sites including Questlog. Most Gaming sites you all use today use […]

I'm reworking the Review/Rating system currently. One of the main feature request there was to rate a game without writing a review. I understand this now. It feels so much better. Thanks for all the feedback. It will still take a bit of time, as there's more to rewrite, than I thought, but […]

I recently updated to iOS 26 (It's about as terrible as everyone says, maybe more) and realized Questlog was kind of broken there as Safari 26 doesn't respect browser standards anymore. Colors were off and the color in the status bar of iOS was broken. I fixed this in the last update.
Funfact: All users combined (that have the Steam Connection active) have 21,905 games (combines, duplicates not filtered) synced via Steam. I guess it would be fun to put some anonymous statistics on a page. So I don't have to go to the database every time and look stuff like that up. But also […]

Hi there. Just pushed a quick fix for the automatic Steam sync. That didn't work because of a Guard that only protected that method in Production in a specific way. I just ran the auto-sync and it worked.
Ok, I created a project in my GitHub Repo to outline what is planned in 2026. (As everything is in German, it's private. Maybe I have time to make an open roadmap some time) This is the stuff I want to include before the end of the year, but as always it's not finished as I always take your […]

Hi there. 3 years ago I decided to release this project to the wild and pushed the button. Questlog 0.1.0 went live. Except my wife nobody cared for the first two days but then people actually started to join the project. Quickly my goal of 10 users in the first year was reached and more […]
