And another fantastic success story for this nature reserve, which has undergone an incredible transformation since it was bought by the Trust in 2009 as intensively farmed arable land. 📸Crane Watch volunteer Dave Coats

Two young cranes fly with their parents above Willow Tree Fen nature reserve in south Lincolnshire. The youngsters are getting almost as big as their parents, but don't yet have all their adult feathers, including the distinctive red and black crown, so are easy to tell apart with binoculars. Right now in Laos, a terrified pangolin is being sold. She has already endured so much; snatched from her home, handled violently, starved and dehydrated. Her only defence is to curl-up. Her fate is in the alt text. It isn't for the faint-hearted but it is the reality for too many pangolins.

What follows is a description of what will happen to the pangolin based on the undercover reports from Laos of the Agent C Wildlife Initiative. First, she will be beaten and her throat cut, her blood will drain from her body and be used in fried rice and wine. Then, she will be boiled so her scales can be stripped from her body. Her scales will be ground into a powder so they can be easily transported across borders. Finally, her body will be chopped up and used in soup or braised in soy sauce. Not only is this cruel, it is illegal. All eight species of pangolin are protected against being hunted, killed and traded under international law.

All the moths I made in May. Connecting with #MothMay has been great; it's lovely to see other people's moth art and it's encouraged me in my creations. These moths will be appearing at the Lincolnshire Show in June, I might make some more but I have to make some bats first 🦇

Love this river-themed window at the Sir Joseph Banks Centre in Horncastle. There are some wonderful wildlife and Christmas details in the handmade papercut design by local artist Joanna Pass.

Didn't really feel like it was December until today when I got to spend the day at the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust's Gibraltar Point. It's cosy and Christmassy in the visitor centre and bracingly windswept on the beach.
