Hyperlocal political podcast coming at you from beautiful Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Co-hosts: @rachelbrody.bsky.social @danhetx.bsky.social @embernic.bsky.social & more folks who aren't on bluesky yet.
Last night, we heard all or our favorite bikelash arguments. We also heard something novel and unhinged from Board member Stephen Harrison. He believes that the presence of Citi Bike docks in the street will lower the value of homes so much that DOT should compensate nearby property owners.
Tomorrow's CB10 traffic and transportation meeting will be an important one. If we're going to reduce traffic, limit car dependency, and improve street safety, we need a dense and usable network of alternative transit modes. Show your support of cycling and less public space for car storage.
Citi Bike is (finally) coming to Bay Ridge! But we need YOU to take action so the plan to expand the popular bikeshare program isn’t delayed or watered down.
If you’re looking for the kid rides and the climbing wall at fun on fifth, it’s between 72nd and Ovington, and if you’ve already had enough zepoles try the Nigerian vegan food truck at 73rd.
Or maybe House Representative, Nicole Malliotakis forgot that my family members are registered voters & her constituents here in #NY11. Or maybe she just doesn’t care. But plenty of people in our district do care. @radiofreebr.bsky.social @agounardes.bsky.social @justinbrannan.bsky.social
When #NY11 House Representative Nicole Malliotakis voted to defund my incandescent autistic son’s Medicaid, SNAP and other benefits yesterday, she forgot that I read this piece right in front of her office last week. Or she didn’t listen. thinkingautismguide.com/2025/05/medi...

Trumps DOJ accidentally misfile a letter acknowledging they have huge legal holes in their attempts to kill Congestion Pricing, which is improving air quality, lowering traffic, funding transit, and improving commutes.
So, uh, it certainly looks like DOJ intended to file a letter to Judge Liman in MTA v. Duffy, but….it accidentally filed a letter containing its legal advice to the Department of Transportation instead storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

Nicole Malliotakis is now in her third term representing NY-11, but she still hasn’t held a single public town hall where constituents can ask questions and get real answers. At a time when public acc...

#NY11 owes a huge thank-you to @mikedecillis.bsky.social, who organized a MASSIVE #HandsOff town hall on Staten Island on April 5th & plans additional actions throughout the district. Nicole may want to hide, but these constituents will hold her accountable. radiofreebayridge.org/community/ny...

Malliotakis: “There’s a clear understanding between many of us and the speaker. We will not vote for something that takes away eligibility from our constituents, period.” Priceless. Eligibility without funding? Meaningless. NY11 is watching. Call her 202-225-3121. punchbowl.news/article/hous...
House Republicans’ next headache: The Medicaid fight
If House Republican leadership can force the Senate-passed budget resolution through the chamber, they’ll quickly face a showdown over cutting Medicaid.

Here's Rep. Nicole Malliotakis #NY11 watching a house burn down and telling everyone trapped inside that their heating costs are decreasing so why are they complaining.

Your Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis on the historic market crash and meltdown: It's just "a little turbulence as you move to smooth skies." Remember that in a few months, when the full effects begin to be felt. The person you elected to protect you said it's merely "a little turbulence"
We took a field trip to Staten Island today and we couldn't have been more impressed! Organizers let us know there's another town hall in the works for Brooklyn - stay tuned and plan on SHOWING UP! #NY11 #HandsOff
#NY11 is here to say #HandsOff! Packed town hall on Staten Island today — Rep. Malliotakis, we're here, where are you?
Note: the beloved 3rd Avenue festivals are technically under the DOTs Open Streets plan. Unclear if this means the summer festivals on 3rd are in jeopardy under Mayor Adams.
Big huge streets news: The federal pandemic relief money that funded open streets has run out, and it is unclear if City Hall is going to replace it in the upcoming budget nyc.streetsblog.org/2025/04/03/o...
Today, as we hear about what's happening to the economy, it's important to note how our local politics caused this. Nicole Malliotakis, our Congresswoman, has the power to create and remove tariffs. Not Trump. Months ago, she voted to give that power away, without conditions.
People will say this is the result of a presidential election, and that’s partly true. But the Constitution does not delegate tariff power to the president, and he is only able to impose these ruinous, peace-destroying taxes because Congress has let him do so. Congress can end this at any time.
A simple reminder that Nicole "I want to build a Women's History museum" Malliotakis voted AGAINST allowing new parents from designating someone to vote for them in Congress after the birth of a new child. Fuck being with your newborn. You gotta come to work.
It's always been this simple: Don't give control of the economy to a guy who bankrupted a casino.
Two-thirds of the staff overseeing 9/11 first responder healthcare have been fired. Nicole Malliotakis meanwhile is smiling. It's what Republicans always wanted from the beginning, and she refuses to be held accountable.
Republicans have held up care of first responders *since 9/11* — including holding up the Zadroga Act for years. It's unfuckingbelievable that we're facing this once again. 👉Watch Rep. Malliotakis try to wiggle out of blame.

We love maps, we love the subway, we love a new subway map!
Say hello to a new subway map! 🗺️ Today, the MTA unveiled a new subway diagram that provides riders with essential travel information in an easily readable, bright, and orderly manner.
Congresswoman Nydia Velázquez has spent her entire career fighting for the people too often left behind: immigrants, working families, small business owners – the very people who power this city. I’m so incredibly honored to have her in my corner. 💪🏼💪🏼
This shit is bananas. B-A-N-A-N-A-S.
Our Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis wants to build a Women's History Museum. She just accepted Trump's executive order that the new museum will celebrate women's accomplishments but not portray America as "inherently... sexist [or] oppressive" at any point in history.
