RIP Viktor Antonov. I wish I told you how much admiration I had for you but we get caught in our lives until a surprise like this hits us. You were instrumental to the success of Arkane Studios and an inspiration to many of us, also a friend with whom I have many fond memories

I worry for American game dev. Europe make equally good games for a fraction of the cost. America isn’t in the leading position it had in the 90s. And China is catching up too. The main culprit is the salary difference, but what is the solution? Cost of living here is absurd. Not blaming the devs

Genuine question (with a bit of a judgement, I admit). Anyone knows why the Thief4 guys didn’t use Steve Russel for Garret’s voice? It’s criminal, sorry can’t help the judgement. There’s got to be a rational answer.

There we go! Signing a publisher is part of the long road to ship a game, and it is a critical piece to the magic. We’re super happy to announce our partnership with Neowiz. The stars align for our new baby to come out and hopefully you’ll love it as much as we do www.gematsu.com/2025/02/wolf...

To Stalker2 devs: I love your game, but you taught me not to search corpses (they are never interactive), until 20 hours into the game whete you hide a key in a corpse… (roll eyes). I had to look it up on youtube as I was stuck.

My previous post was a bit controversial. Hopefully this one will be received better: 70% on metacritic can either mean it’s a mediocre game or it’s an amazing game that has bugs at launch and needs patching. I don’t think Metacritic helps in making the difference between the 2.

The Metacritic ecosystem encourages devs to make safe boring games. As long as a game is polished at launch, you’re guaranteed a 80%, no matter how boring the game might be. Meanwhile Stalker2 gets a 73 because it’s a bit rough on the edges at launch. Unfair, misleading..

1. New genre of game is successful, biz people are shocked 2. biz run analytics and focus on new strategy from now on 3. biz abuse new strategy shamelessly 4. Market says F.U. 5. Biz panic 6. Old genre is successful, biz people shocked 7. Old genre = New strategy, goto 2

Exactly 25 years ago. A bunch of friends and I started the company of our dreams called Arkane Studios, having no idea someday it would celebrate its 25th anniversary. I’m not part of Arkane anymore, but it’s still in my heart. Sending love to all my friends keeping it alive.
