I'm always shocked at how much my cognitive ability varies day to day, given exhaustion, hormones, migraines, what I've eaten. People would be better at their jobs if we just acknowledged that we are human and our abilities to perform do indeed vary from day to day.

This should be mandated in our laws that the site of a tragedy of this scale should be demolished and rebuilt. There’s no question of funding. This is the right thing to do. But I don’t believe every current provincial leader candidate would make that happen. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

At nearly $200 an hour we could hire mental health specialists, social workers, legal liaisons…. Actually those professions are so underpaid we could probably get one of each for the price of a cop.

Six months after #Vancouver police launch District 5 to patrol DTES, Gastown & Chinatown, business break-ins in Chinatown are up 275%! Calls into question the value of Mayor Ken Sim hiring 200 cops, giving #VPD $479M budget & @vancouverpd.bsky.social claim it patrols Dist. 5 round-the-clock, 24/7.

The look of longing the little kid in the restaurant had when this came out… jaw dropped, biggest eyes… then immediately looked at dad carrying a salad who shook his head Pixi stix, lollipop, rock candy, cotton candy, strawberry milkshake, jelly bellies and frosting and whipping cream

REQUIRE AGE RATINGS ON SOCIAL MEDIA CONTENT, like we do for shows and movies. Not age verification. That GIVES social media platform MORE very valuable data. Require social media platforms to be basically responsible for the CONTENT they host. YouTube has a minimal version of this. Expand THAT.

I ran my kid's chemistry lab intro section (which I know 100% she wrote by hand because she stands with authors and artists who had their work stolen to create it) through an AI detector. some says 0% AI some says 40% AI and some say 89% AI 😱 so this is fun and not at all anxiety inducing

Still bothered by the fact my kids pronounce LMAO as Le-ma-ow Me: It’s L-M-A-O, stand for laughing my a$$ off 15yo: no, it’s Le as in the French article and Mao as in chairman lmao Me: oh go 67 right off 12yo: OMG MOM! Me: don’t you mean ohm-gha?

My cousin is the construction site boss for paving. When workers don’t show up for their shift (usually to rake asphalt) he and his team makes effigies of the workers out of random stuff and drags them over the hot asphalt and texts the pics to the missing employees :) gotta have a sense of humour

You know how some people don’t want to call the police when there is a homeless person who might need some help because we don’t really know they’ll be treated compassionately? My aunt NEVER reports bear activity because of this. She has 3 cubs living in her Apple tree www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

Ok so my aunt & uncle in central penticton have taken in 6, including a single mom & child that are complete strangers (apparently she had 3 days government housing and then nothing met at church) Also, they are housing a LOT of ammunition people have brought from their homes to prevent it igniting

One of these hotel rooms are from our cancelled family holiday At least my family up there are all staying with other family. But it’s A LOT of kids and dogs in one spot. They’ll need the mental health supports to just survive each other never mind the fires.

If you’ve been forced to leave your home because of the wildfires in Summerland and surrounding areas, hotel rooms are available, along with health care and mental health supports. For more information: news.gov.bc.ca/releases/202...

My daughter is still not quite 13. She is 5’10.5” Grew another centimetre in the past 2 months. I have zero clothes that fit her. All tshirts are poorly fitted crop-tops. At 5’4” when she stands next to me people look us up and down and go “so…is dad tall?”

Is it a strategy or is it incompetence: do organizations intentionally post different things on different socials? And so to get like the whole story, you have to go to all social streams? Could we just NOT do this with fire and evacuation information, please? All the info on all the socials.
