I'm always shocked at how much my cognitive ability varies day to day, given exhaustion, hormones, migraines, what I've eaten. People would be better at their jobs if we just acknowledged that we are human and our abilities to perform do indeed vary from day to day.

This should be mandated in our laws that the site of a tragedy of this scale should be demolished and rebuilt. There’s no question of funding. This is the right thing to do. But I don’t believe every current provincial leader candidate would make that happen. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

Showed the kids the timex digital watch I wore that had a magic eight ball button and explained on my first date with their dad he took my wrist and pushed the button until it said YES Him: oh good Me: what was the question? Him: Will you go on a 2nd date with me? Kids: aww 12yo: DAD HAD RIZZ!
A cornucopia of cops won’t cure the cause of crime I’m torn: ABC Always Buying Cops Another Band-Aid Council Anything But Change
Maybe increasing police budgets while failing to tackle the root causes of crime isn’t working out. Maybe ABC aren’t actually the public safety party. Maybe it’s time to change the status quo.

At nearly $200 an hour we could hire mental health specialists, social workers, legal liaisons…. Actually those professions are so underpaid we could probably get one of each for the price of a cop.
Six months after #Vancouver police launch District 5 to patrol DTES, Gastown & Chinatown, business break-ins in Chinatown are up 275%! Calls into question the value of Mayor Ken Sim hiring 200 cops, giving #VPD $479M budget & @vancouverpd.bsky.social claim it patrols Dist. 5 round-the-clock, 24/7.
The look of longing the little kid in the restaurant had when this came out… jaw dropped, biggest eyes… then immediately looked at dad carrying a salad who shook his head Pixi stix, lollipop, rock candy, cotton candy, strawberry milkshake, jelly bellies and frosting and whipping cream
I mean I think this is cool. And good job teens. But my dad informs me that the calculator was received similarly versus the slide rule… so…
I've seen this with my teens and young adults too. One was telling me about her new teachers and showed immense respect for the ones who said "No Ai" and clearly didn't use it to make their own visuals and handouts. They aren't buying that Ai makes you smarter. Just the opposite.
REQUIRE AGE RATINGS ON SOCIAL MEDIA CONTENT, like we do for shows and movies. Not age verification. That GIVES social media platform MORE very valuable data. Require social media platforms to be basically responsible for the CONTENT they host. YouTube has a minimal version of this. Expand THAT.
I ran my kid's chemistry lab intro section (which I know 100% she wrote by hand because she stands with authors and artists who had their work stolen to create it) through an AI detector. some says 0% AI some says 40% AI and some say 89% AI 😱 so this is fun and not at all anxiety inducing
Still bothered by the fact my kids pronounce LMAO as Le-ma-ow Me: It’s L-M-A-O, stand for laughing my a$$ off 15yo: no, it’s Le as in the French article and Mao as in chairman lmao Me: oh go 67 right off 12yo: OMG MOM! Me: don’t you mean ohm-gha?
We spent $152k on my brother’s cancer treatment that would have been covered if the tumour was inside the lungs. My tenant is looking at $100k of life extending treatment. You need to start saving for a medical fund within your family vancouver.citynews.ca/2026/08/17/e...

Nearly 50 life-extending, enriching or saving drugs have cancelled or delayed their Canadian launches in the past year; some of which, were already approved by Health Canada.

My cousin is the construction site boss for paving. When workers don’t show up for their shift (usually to rake asphalt) he and his team makes effigies of the workers out of random stuff and drags them over the hot asphalt and texts the pics to the missing employees :) gotta have a sense of humour
Pinterest moms getting ahold of AI is going to take expectations for birthday parties to a whole new level
the kitchen and dining table has been taken up by a Chemistry 11 science project... thus, IN THE NAME OF SCIENCE... we must order delivery for dinner. *shucks*
Well said, Lucy. Thanks for your leadership on this.
This is a crisis. What is Ken Sim and his ABC majority's response? Not a plan, not funding - an opinion poll. His 'plebiscite' amounts to asking Vancouverites whether or not they approve of open drug use. I can save the Mayor the trouble. Vancouverites do not like the status quo.
Can we maybe please deal with kids on scooters and e-dirt bikes first? vancouver.citynews.ca/2026/08/16/o...
Ottawa wants to block kids from social media. How would age verification work?
In June, the federal government introduced Bill C-34, which would force social media platforms to block access for kids under 16.

Do not get me wrong, I love this illustrator. But having been around kindergarten spidermen for a few years I IMMEDIATELY saw this cover as a kid in spiderman pjs carrying “don’t let the pigeon drive the bus” for bedtime story time.

You know how some people don’t want to call the police when there is a homeless person who might need some help because we don’t really know they’ll be treated compassionately? My aunt NEVER reports bear activity because of this. She has 3 cubs living in her Apple tree www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

Ok so my aunt & uncle in central penticton have taken in 6, including a single mom & child that are complete strangers (apparently she had 3 days government housing and then nothing met at church) Also, they are housing a LOT of ammunition people have brought from their homes to prevent it igniting
One of these hotel rooms are from our cancelled family holiday At least my family up there are all staying with other family. But it’s A LOT of kids and dogs in one spot. They’ll need the mental health supports to just survive each other never mind the fires.
If you’ve been forced to leave your home because of the wildfires in Summerland and surrounding areas, hotel rooms are available, along with health care and mental health supports. For more information: news.gov.bc.ca/releases/202...
If you are wondering why the Bald Range fire (Summerland-Peachland-Penticton) is so *explosive* my aunt is in a evacuation alert area. This is the state of the brush in the undeveloped land at the end of her street
This is a good plan. I mean it already happens so let’s regulate it. I’d LOVE for the guy who operates a moving company out of his garage on our block to have to pay for parking permits for his trucks or to have hours or operations!!!
Right now in Vancouver, if you want to open a bike repair shop in your alley? Illegal. Bakery from your back door? Illegal. Haircut in your spare room? You guessed it. Illegal. That's ridiculous. So we're gonna fix it. 🧵1/7 #VanPoli #YVR #VancouverVotes2026 #GoodBusinessStartsAtHome
My daughter is still not quite 13. She is 5’10.5” Grew another centimetre in the past 2 months. I have zero clothes that fit her. All tshirts are poorly fitted crop-tops. At 5’4” when she stands next to me people look us up and down and go “so…is dad tall?”
Is it a strategy or is it incompetence: do organizations intentionally post different things on different socials? And so to get like the whole story, you have to go to all social streams? Could we just NOT do this with fire and evacuation information, please? All the info on all the socials.
15yo morning words of wisdom: you know every single one of our ancestors right back to the organisms we evolved from, all survived long enough to reproduce? …huh. Can honestly say I’ve never thought about that.
