The 2000s-era 3D platformer special of randomly diverting to vehicle or shooting gameplay, sometimes combined. Sliding or rail-grinding it we're feeling adventurous. Actually, can we start doing this again? I miss it.

Did you know the little #dinosaur fellows from Zniw Adventure manual are actually done in the same hardpixel style as the rest of the game? It's just not immediately noticeable, since they're shrunken down to fit the page header! Here are some of them in their original resolution!

Donkey Kong 64 makes extremely efficient usage of in-engine coloration to cut down on the number of textures. Entire vibrant and colorful areas are created at runtime from a single texture just by artfully tinting it.

The colorful cliffs in Jungle Japes are just a vertex coloration map being applied to a single 128x128 pixel texture.

Some time ago, I started playing Final Fantasy from the first entry onwards. So far, I am up to FFIII, and I would say I'm enjoying the ride. Big fan of weird, old RPGs.
