This is great article. One of the great myths about assessment is putting people under pressure is a good thing. It's not. Pressure whilst managing a medical emergency is different and distinct to the pressure on feels in an exam. Pretending the two are the same really is absurd.

Rather than allowing humanists to contribute to Radio 4's Thought for the Day, the BBC's current format requires all speakers to frame political and current affairs commentary through a religious or scriptural lens. Yet half of the UK is non-religious so why not let us speak?

It's funny because I read stuff like this and I sometimes wonder if I'm just pathologically uncompetitive. A minor thing that made me stop playing computer games is there seemed to be a move to making all of them online and multiplayer. I'm definitely in the "compete with yourself" category.

This is a conversation our specialty needs to have. The indications for AFOI have massively decreased as proficiency with VL has increased. Even when performed well AFOI is less pleasant than asleep intubation so hard to justify performing to train or maintain skills.

This is going to get a lot of use. I once had an American tell me that I should write when I'm not talking about America.

I met J-P just once. He impressed me with his willingness to engage with someone he knew nothing of. He demonstrated how much good can come from clinical leaders interacting with harmed patients with curiosity and humility rather than defensiveness. It also makes quite a good story… 1/
