From the available facts this looks more like corruption than incompetence. Now I'm sure our justiciary are NOT corrupt but, for the preservation of public trust, one would expect a fuller explanation of what seems an extraordinary decision in a case of public interest.

Lots of grandstanding from BASC on this ruling, which is odd, because the ruling isn't really that significant. No licence required to keep gamebirds "imprisoned" in pens prior to release on protected sites, BUT A LICENCE IS STILL REQUIRED TO ACTUALLY RELEASE THEM ON PROTECTED SITES!

The sooner that the judiciary, the political class and the general public gets to understand what the rest of us have known for years, the better: there is nothing natural (or laudable) about ‘game’ bird rearing or shooting.

It isn't surprising that BASC have tried to paint this as a 'total' victory & at the same time label NE almost as villains in this...shades of Trump claiming victory in 2020... The bottom line is it's still a cruel, destructive industry that only cares about money and has NO interest in conservation
