Official bluesky account for the Research Associates and Postdocs United at Penn (RAPUP-UAW), the union of postdoctoral scholars and research associates at the University of Pennsylvania.

Voting together is better! Postdocs & Research Associates from all over campus are coming out to vote Yes for RAPUP. The Translational Research Laboratory is a nearly twenty minute walk to the polling location, but we're driven to make Penn a better and more secure place for all academic workers

One week out of major surgery, and still making it onto campus to cast a YES vote! Postdocs and Research Associates are dedicated to winning their union along with the improvements and security they deserve!

We work side by side with our graduate colleagues, and we know that through unionizing we can improve the conditions of ALL academic workers! Check out more dual testimonials with our union siblings in GETUP-UAW

We're grateful for the support from our city council members as we get ready for our vote next week! 🔥"These workers deserve a voice and for their vote to be respected, and we expect Penn to be a high-road, good-faith employer that supports its employees' decisions to form a union"🔥

Members of Philadelphia City Council sent a letter to the University of Pennsylvania expressing our support for the university’s Postdocs and Research Associates, who are in the process of forming their union, Research Associates and Postdocs United at Penn-UAW (RAPUP-UAW).

Thanks to our Penn union siblings in GETUP-UAW for the support! Your union election win last year was an inspiration, and we look forward to joining you in the fight to make Penn a better place for all workers through our union! We're read to vote #UnionYES 7/16 + 7/17

🚨BIG NEWS🚨 We've got election dates! The regional NLRB ruled overwhelmingly in favor of our RAPUP-UAW bargaining unit and on our right to unionize, rejecting every argument set forth by the Penn administration! We look forward to voting UNION YES on July 16th and 17th!

Yesterday, we received Penn’s official response to our petition for a union election. We had hoped Penn would respect the will of a supermajority of postdocs and research associates and agree to an election without delay.

🚨We filed our petition with the NLRB for a union election! A supermajority of the 1,500 research associates and postdocs at Penn have signed over 1,000 cards in support of forming our union, RAPUP-UAW! 🚨

By a hateful presidential administration. We refuse to let the Trump administration scapegoat the LGBTQIA+ community. Join us, Penn AAUP, and our allies tomorrow 20-Mar @ 12 PM if you think Penn should do more to combat the hateful rhetoric of the Trump admin. Laws without morals are useless. (2/2).

175 million dollars in federal funding to Penn has been frozen. RAPUP-UAW stands in solidarity with the LGBTQIA+ community, which is why we, and 6 other campus labor organizations, are encouraging Penn administration to refuse to comply with any dictatorial and autocratic directives issued (1/2)

Over 200 protesters in Philadelphia gathered outside Senator McCormick’s office to protest recent cuts to NIH funding. NIH funding creates jobs and advances new cures to the clinic. Senator McCormick could not be reached for comment (shocker).

Next Wednesday, 2/19 at 12pm, higher ed workers from across Philly are rallying to tell Senator McCormick: Hands Off our Healthcare, Research, and Jobs! Science and education are under attack. Join us at 2000 Market Street to fight back! RSVP here: labor4highered.org#register

Lindsay Fernandez is a cancer researcher. She’s afraid the cuts that the Trump Administration is making won’t just hurt us now, but will discourage researchers for years to come. We need to listen to our researchers. It’s time to invest in science - not cut it. @higheredlabor.bsky.social
