A fantastic day’s walk on the annual pilgrimage from Hexham Abbey to St Oswald’s Church, Heavenfield by way of St John Lee’s Church, Acomb. Oswald erected a cross before battle and his victory over the Mercians.
The wonderful 7th century crypt of St Wilfrid below Hexham Abbey designed to hold relics brought from Rome.
Hexham Abbey really is a glorious place with soaring arches and stunning windows.
The only ladder stile on the way to Heavenfield from Hexham Abbey.
