I think it would be really interesting if more smart non-mathematicians somehow got a real understanding of what mathematical thinking is, independent of the technical details of any particular area of math

Observe the rank anthropomorphization here. Models don't "conclude" anything, nor do they "hack", "wriggle", or "cheat". You simply can't write clear informative articles about this stuff if you displace agency away from the people (organized into corporations) responsible. /fin for now.

This is a good point. There is math, real math, useful important math with new ideas, that is still kinda incremental. And then there's math like Grothendieck did it - math where it's not even realizing you're asking the wrong question - it's inventing a new language to ask the right question in.
