Open source zealot. Maker of knives. Thrower of darts.
"But it's all communication!" Yes. It is. But there's a difference between conversation and information. Know it. Appreciate it.

Super proud to be listed as one of the contributors to the release of Apache Flink 1.18 -- flink.apache.org/2023/10/24/a... Also, very impressed that Flink goes out of their way to acknowledge every contributor, no matter how (in my case) trivial the contribution.

I have a serious email hoarding problem. I have deleted more than 100,000 email messages so far today while attending a view-only meeting. And I still have almost 50gb of email remaining.
After being involved in open source community for 25 years and writing about for almost as long I'm finally reading @jonobacon.bsky.social 's "art of community." It's interesting so far. I also recommend Charles Vogl's "Art of community." Same title. Different book.
About to take the stage at Airflow Summit. Looking forward to hearing what I have to say.

When I read an article like this I always, always wonder whether the people involved see the irony or if they are really this stupid. https://www.montgomeryadvertiser.com/story/news/local/alabama/2023/08/08/alabama-says-creating-two-black-districts-would-be-unconstitutional/70541614007/
So ... I'm on Twitter, Threads, Bluesky, and Mastodon now. I feel like I'm probably missing a few.
Just got done with a "dress rehearsal" of a presentation I'll be giving in a few weeks. I've been public speaking for 25 years, and I still get stage fright and sweats every single time I am on stage - even when it's just in front of my laptop camera.
How is it that I always get into the line behind the people who have never flown? The lady in front of me agonized for several minutes over whether to put her banana in a separate bin.
