Reminds of of another county who calls their POWs hostages, with everyone else going along with it.

Two points about the downed F-15 crew in Iran: 1. Hegseth threatened “no quarter” against Iran, making the situation worse for those downed fliers. 2. Media speculation that the fliers could be used as “hostages” is sloppy language. They'd be prisoners of war taken during combat. Not "hostages."
