Thing of it is, the notion of Spider-Man being super popular is something I think a lot of people have trouble accepting. A lot of people are tricked into thinking that in the “hierarchy” of superheroes, characters like Superman and Batman are “above” Spidey so his success is always a surprise.

Why are so many people invested in seeing the Jackal in a Spider-Man movie? He’s a lame villain who’s really only had *one* good story in the 70’s.

Hot take: Most comic creators in the 90s and 2000s did not share this epiphany, which is the reason we had so many of them trying to tear down everything in order to restore some imagined golden age that never was but were convinced existed.

I find this to be a funny response as this is the film with the Punisher, Hulk and the main antagonist is not only not a Spider-Man villain or even a Spider-Man character, but someone from an entirely different franchise.

I've no idea who this guy is, but I'm glad he's happy to be in a Spider-Man film.

BTW, "NEXTWAVE" is only saved by Stuart Immomen's art as Ellis' story is complete garbage and not nearly as funny as he thinks it is.

Yes, but what you're forgetting is that we gained the benefit of having to rush through all eight episodes in one sitting or have all of it spoiled for us, and then having to wait 2 years for the next season. And also everything gets cancelled after 3 seasons.

Fans talking about Spider-Man: He's like the best of us. A comforting friend. Someone we can always rely on. Creators at Marvel Comics talking about Spider-Man: He's like- a total f*ckup, y'know? His own worst enemy. He'd be a bloodthirsty villain if he had a really bad day.

You *could.* It'd be a *lie.* But you could argue it. MJ was featured in the first Marvel/DC crossover *ever* between Superman and Spider-Man, and that was in *1976*. So, no- she wasn't made popular because of the animated series or the Raimi films. She was *in* them due to her popularity.
