Saw THE ODYSSEY. That was sure a lot of choices to support Nolan's particular vision. Loved a few bits. Didn't others, but ya know: the important thing is expanding public attention to these kinds of stories. Probably better service NOT to be a vision that everyone adopts as canon like LOTR films.

I like this notetaking example. it is a good case of how gender works. Notetaking has never been about producing a transcript. It is a bureaucratic skill in the 20th c. organixarion because it is SENSEMAKING. Those women socialized to take notes? They have been doing men’s metacognition for them

Tempted to play the City Hall piano when I'm there for contract negotiations tomorrow because I'm ALMOST solid on my first piece after starting piano lessons last month. But if I wait until next time I'm there on business I'll be super solid.

The question of which economic power distribution is friendliest to civil rights is always easier to answer in the negative. Big corporations? The State? Communes? Seems like every option has really bad history or hasn't been tested in very different contexts. Easy to worry that change is worse.
