Elephants were present but rare in my Peace Corps country. One showed up and casually wrecked a field one day, but the eldest son had never seen one in person. He told his dad someone had left their bushtaxi parked in their field. Dad came and looked and was like "Uh...just wait til it leaves 🤷🏿‍♂️"

reading a book on African economics. Amazing how racists contort themselves to create narratives of racial inferiority, when one of the basic explanations for lagging African development is that fucking elephants will destroy crops

Driving to work I saw entire brick walls reduced to rubble. Trees uprooted and askew. A building at Mack and Gratiot had all its windows blown out. Detroit is looking very Miami-post-hurricane today 😬

🇳🇵 Survivors cling to zipline after Nepal floods destroy bridges Flood survivors in Nepal are using a roughly 250-metre makeshift cable to cross over the swollen Trishuli River, a week after one of the country's worst disasters.

Laat week my neighbor helpfully informed me, *unsolicited*, that he only poops every 15 days for as long as he can remember. Now it's all I can think about when I see him.
