I am rounding out my 10th year as a full-time freelancer and my biggest feeling right now is that I don't want to make things for other people anymore. I just want to make things for myself.

the haunting feeling when you close out 5 tabs that are just your inbox and then you look over to your other monitor and there is yet another window with your email open this is all to say your emails are not finding me well today

Just saw someone on facebook using AI to animate photos of someone who was recently murdered to peddle their shitty click farm. Generative AI is truly depraved technology.

You hate to roll up to a rest stop after a long time on the road and the only lunch/dinner option is a Roy Rogers. A true garbage tier fast food establishment. High school cafeteria tasting burgers. Still, I’d rather eat there than a Subway.

A view of the demolition of the Commercial Street bridge. Crews are working 24/7 to tear down the existing bridge. Right now they are removing the surface structure. Later in the week they will implode the remaining structure. After that they will work to slide the new bridge into place.

The Commercial Street Bridge, a long, concrete, arched bridge that crosses a stream and road, is being torn down. This bridge in Pittsburgh leads into the Squirrel Hill Tunnel and carries nearly 100,000 vehicles a day. Large machines on the top of the bridge are tearing up the surface. Debris is falling into a large pile of rubble below the bridge. The green-painted steel beams of the new bridge is in the background.

it used to be cool seeing a satellite while stargazing but now one is passing overhead every 5 minutes and I remember that it’s mostly Elon Musk’s disposable space trash.

Today while gardening I encountered this blueish-grey isopod. I thought it was a species I've never seen before or even a genetic anomaly much like a blue lobster. This isopod is likely actually infected with the isopod iridovirus which causes this iridescent coloration & decreased responsiveness.

A close of photo of an isopod infected with the isopod iridovirus. This causes it to have a bluish iridescent appearance.

One of my last shots of the Commercial Street bridge before construction started. They are replacing the bridge by building the new one next to it. Over 25 days they will demolish the old one and slide in the new one. Anyone living in the Pittsburgh area has been bracing from the disruption.

Black and white photograph of the Commercial Street bridge in Pittsburgh. A trail cuts through a field underneath the wide arch of the bridge. The infrared filter on the camera makes the foliage appear white, adding to the dramatic contrast of the scene.
