Cycling Industry Recovery - Fb Jason A Fenton, owner Halter's Cycles As a dealer based in New Jersey, I must warn those in other states about the strong downturn in the sales of pedal assist bicycles ("e-bikes") that comes when your home state vilifies all things ebikes. The public here has grown a strong distaste for ebikes as all you see is anti-ebike sentiment on social media. It is critical that we as an industry work hard to avoid a national ebike policy that matches the moronic policy here in NJ. As it stands, myself and other dealers as struggling to sell ebikes on our shop floors for the wholesale prices we paid. To be clear, what we sell are indeed legal (in NJ), they just now require registration. This very much seems to be a huge turn-off to any potential buyer. My belief is that if this sort of legislation becomes a national policy, we may see the biggest crash in the bike industry in decades. Ironically, this law seems to do little to diminish the sale and use of now illegal E-motos across the state.

Hillsborough T'ship: (908) 369-4313 aferrera@hillsboroughnj.gov I am a local resident and a regular cyclist who frequently uses Montgomery Road. I am writing to express my strong opposition to the proposed chip sealing of Montgomery Road. Montgomery Road is one of the area's historic gravel roads and is an important part of the rural character that makes Hillsborough and the surrounding region unique. These roads reflect the agricultural heritage and scenic landscape that residents and visitors alike value and seek to preserve. In addition, Montgomery Road has long been a cherished route within the local cycling community. Gravel roads such as Montgomery Road are integral to classic area cycling events and rides that attract participants from throughout New Jersey and beyond. The road's existing character contributes to the region's reputation as a destination for cycling and outdoor recreation. Converting this historic gravel road through chip sealing would permanently alter a distinctive feature of our community and diminish an important aspect of the area's identity. Once these roads are changed, their historic and recreational value cannot easily be restored. I respectfully urge the Township to preserve Montgomery Road in its current form and consider the long-term cultural, historical, and recreational benefits that this road provides to residents and visitors.
