Sixty-one years ago today, Congress enacted the Voting Rights Act to make good on the constitutional promise that no American should be denied their right to vote because of their race. That promise now rests on weaker legal footing. We must deploy every legal tool available to restore the VRA.

🚨The Missouri Supreme Court has upheld the state’s mid-decade gerrymander. Just six hours after hearing oral argument. The court has shown Missourians the lack of seriousness with which it takes cases that pertain to protecting their right to vote—a dangerous abdication of the judiciary’s role.
🚨SCOTUS has greenlit a racial gerrymander in Alabama — a complete reversal of the Court’s own decision on this very map. Alabama has one of the most documented histories of racially discriminatory voting practices in America. Yesterday, the Roberts Court handed lawmakers a license to revive it.
