If the last two months break the Sox way with wins and health, I'd bet heavily on three guys injured right now taking their first three at-bats of the postseason. L Anthony R Mead S Rutschman R Contreras L Abreu R Rafaela L Yoshida/Duran R Story/Monasterio R Durbin

Rutschman has been pretty much been a failure from what he was expected to be. Most of his "bounce back" this season is from a 30 PA stretch in late April. Interesting to say the least. Paying a premium in the division is scary if this is where it's heading.

Campbell has had 18 batted balls in his last 10 games and 15 have gone for hits (2 HR, 2 2B, 11 1B) with a 47% hard hit rate. 33% K% and 42% whiff% are a massive drag on whatever positives are going on, though.

Franklin Arias is not in the WooSox lineup today - but per a source, it was a scheduled day off after he’d played the first five games of the series (Arias has been on a 4-5x a week schedule throughout this year). That said, the Sox have certainly been open to considering deals involving him …

Trying to connect the smallest bits of information, I’m wondering if Reid Detmers or Jose Soriano could be added to an expanded Zach Neto package that would satisfy their want for Arias and the the Red Sox reluctance to move him. Would likely swing the balance back to the Sox needing to add more.

Anthony Eyanson just set a new career high in strikeouts, he’s got 10 in 14 outs recorded so far tonight in Portland. Batters have swung 36 times and whiffed 19.

The only Red Sox players who have played shortstop in July are Andruw Monasterio and Tsung-Che Cheng. Together, they rank #1 in BA, #1 in OBP, #5 SLG, #3 in runs created, and #2 in wRC+ offensively this month at that position.

Duran's 0-4 tonight pushed his season wRC+ to 58, now lower than 1999 Darren Lewis, which was the worst qualified offensive season by a Red Sox player the majority of fans alive today have endured. Shoutout to anyone that remembers watching Denny Doyle or Glenn Hoffman.

During Campbell's good stretch in AAA, his batted ball outcomes rank 17th/143 in the International League, but his quality of contact is only 90th/143. His whiff rate (33%) in this stretch ranks 126th/143. Hard hit rate (36%) ranks 83rd/143. Chase rate (23%) ranks 32nd/143.

During this Red Sox run, which dates back to June 25, Justin Slaten has, on average, come into the toughest situations out of the bullpen. He's responded with a 1.86 ERA, 37% K rate, and 3% BB rate. Chapman, Whitlock, and Guerrero are next and have ERAs of 1.38, 0.63, and 0.82.

270 MLB players have more than 50 plate appearances over the past 30 days. Here is how Red Sox bats rank in xwOBA over that time, which is quality of contact + walk rate + strikeout rate.

Players that have at least 50 PA in each of the four months so far, and at least a .200 Isolated Power in each: Willson Contreras Curtis Mead Junior Caminero Dillon Dingler Juan Soto CJ Abrams Shohei Ohtani Yordan Alvarez Miguel Vargas

I've been digging in on the Padres... and I cannot believe how dreadful Bogaerts is. He's played for 20 months with SD; 12 of them he's had a wRC+ below 100. Since May 1, he's batting .196/.298/.279. Next year is his age 34 season with 7 years and $175M left on his contract.

During the Red Sox hot stretch, Willson Contreras has a 203 wRC+. His .517 xwOBA ranks 1st/272, expected BA 1st/272, expected SLG 1st/272, 13.7 Runs Above Average RE24 1st/272, fast swing rate 1st/272, 90th percentile exit velocity 2nd/272, Barrel% 3rd/272.
