Last Friday we learnt from Lola Riesgo (CSIC-IEO) about the methodology developd for modelling probabilitay areas of occurrance of #bycatch of Mobulidae in the Tropical Atlantic, whether at the species level or the population level, and how the results can be applied for management purposes.

Happening tomorrow! Join us for the next Joint Webinars on Fisheries Bycatch, featuring Åsmund Brekke (Catchwise) from Marine Guardian, covering: "Catchwise DSS: Using AI to Reduce Bycatch and Improve Efficiency". Friday 15 May 2026, 12:00–13:00 CET Acces in: teams.microsoft.com/l/meetup-joi...

New post on Manx shearwaters (Puffinus puffinus canariensis) ecology by our colleagues from the Seabird Ecology Lab (UB) are carrying out in La Palma (Canary Islands). This campaign is partially supported by #REDUCE and is shedding light on the species’ potential nesting areas in the island.

We have had a fruitful session introducing the project REDUCE and actions being implemenmted. Thanks to all those attending the event and for the useful discussion on why #bycatch happens in West Africa waters, how fishers address it and how to advance in best practices and mitigation measures.
